    • A guide link mechanism is supported from the draft tongue of a pull-type harvester and connected to the gearbox mounted on the crop harvesting header to provide rotational power thereto wherein the guide link is supported from a sliding mechanism mounted on the tongue that accommodates the changes in distance in respective points associated with the pivotal movement of the draft tongue about a different pivot center than the gearbox. The sliding mechanism includes a bracket affixed to the underside of the draft tongue and low friction inserts, such as nylon, phenolic, urethane or polyethylene inserts, carried by the bracket. The guide link is connected to a slider plate that is slidably received by the phenolic inserts to permit a sliding movement thereof relative to the draft tongue. The rearward end of the guide link is pivotally connected to the gearbox to accommodate vertical movements of the crop harvesting header relative to the draft tongue. The guide link mechanism effects pivotal movement of the gearbox in response to the pivotal movement of the draft tongue to minimize angular deflection of the universal joints in the drive line supported on the draft tongue to deliver rotational power to the gearbox.

    • A 4-wheel tractor having brakes on the rear wheels only and an FWD clutch for selectively drivingly coupling the front wheels to the rear wheels, is provided with a control circuit, operative during rear wheel braking, for controlling the clutch so that the front wheels are intermittently coupled to and uncoupled from the rear wheels. Brake pedals which individually control the rear wheel brakes, and a hand brake all control switches connected to a controller. An FWD switch is also connected to the controller. A ground speed sensor applies to the controller a signal representing the speed of the tractor. If the tractor speed is above 15 mph at the time both brake pedals are depressed, the controller selectively controls a solenoid so that the clutch is selectively engaged and disengaged in a first sequence if the FWD switch is ON but selectively controls the solenoid so that the clutch is selectively engaged and disengaged in a second sequence if the FWD switch is in an OFF or an AUTO position. Operation of the clutch effects intermittent front wheel braking as the rear wheels are braked so that front wheel skidding is reduced during hard braking.

The hopper adjacent said tunnel is partially covered and provided with air inlet openings, while the sidewalls of said blower are imperforate except for a material inlet opening from said tunnel and openings for a shaft for said impeller of said blower. A metering blade also is mounted adjacent the inlet to said tunnel to control the flow of material to said tunnel.

    • The device consists of a two stage hydraulic tongue swing mechanism and a tongue latch mechanism for controlling and affixing the tongue of a pull type implement while the implement is being laterally transported. The two stage hydraulic tongue swing mechanism comprises a tongue plate attached to the tongue. A free plate is pivotally attached at the tongue pivot and is controlled by a hydraulic cylinder. The tongue plate and free plate are selectively attached to each other by a lateral transport latch. The tongue latch mechanism is partly affixed to the tongue and partly to the trailframe. Attached to the tongue is a tongue handle that controls the position of a tongue pin. The tongue pin is biased into an angled strike plate with a slot on the edge of the trailframe. The tongue pin may be held in a retracted position by a notched lock bar.

    • A crop conveying drum for a drive disc cutter is mounted directly to the drive shaft mechanism providing rotational power to the cutterbar. The crop conveying drum is formed as mating segments, each forming a half of the drum. Each segment has a pair of support bars vertically oriented and extending between connecting flanges. A mounting bracket centrally supported by the vertical support bars is formed to partially wrap around the drive shaft mechanism. The mounting bracket has holes therein for the passage of fasteners to connect the drum segment directly to the drive shaft mechanism so that the crop conveying drum rotates with the drive shaft mechanism. Upper and lower mating connecting flanges are fastened together to form the entire crop conveying drum rotatable with the drive shaft. The crop conveying drum assists in conveying severed crop material laterally from outlying disc cutters that define a cutting width of the cutterbar that is greater than the operating width of the conditioning rolls. The crop conveying drum is formed in an open configuration to allow the passage of severed crop through the drum so that severed crop cannot accumulate on the drive shaft mechanism to cause an unbalance therein and premature failure of the universal joints due to the wrapping of crop material.
