    • Disclosed is an image processing apparatus in which when a scanning job for which a fee is charged is executed, utilization of scanned data by a user who has not paid the fee can be prevented and it is possible to avoid a situation in which a user who has paid the fee cannot utilize the scanned data. The apparatus scans in a document by a scanner to thereby generate data, encodes the data using a password and stores the encoded data in an external storage device. Next, the apparatus executes fee-charging processing to charge the price for the chargeable scanning job. After the charging processing is executed, the apparatus prints out a password used when the stored encrypted data is to be decoded.

    • An image processing apparatus receives a job, analyzes the received job, generates a saved job that includes an image and output settings information and saves the generated saved job in a storage unit. The saved job that has been saved in the storage unit is output in response to a prescribed output operation. The image processing apparatus acquires a restriction on processing at the time of output and incorporates restriction information, which is indicative of the acquired restriction, in the output settings information. Processing for outputting such a saved job is restricted based upon the restriction information contained in the output settings information.

    • Print information that has been generated by a first device is submitted to a second device and a print job is started (S101). Whether a failure has occurred on the side of the first device during the submission of the print information is detected (S102). In accordance with the detection made, it is determined to abort, suspend or resume processing of the print job that is currently being submitted.
