    • A cable routing guide attached to a fiber optic apparatus, such as a module positioned on a fiber optic equipment tray is disclosed. The cable routing guide is adapted to receive a length of at least one fiber optic cable intended to be connected to a cable connection point, such as a fiber optic adapter disposed on the module. The cable routing guide allows the at least one fiber optic cable to move in response to the fiber optic equipment tray or the module moving between a first position and a second position in a manner such that the length of the at least one fiber optic cable from the cable routing guide to the fiber optic adapter remains substantially unchanged. Moreover, the at least one fiber optic cable that is received by the cable routing guide may be retained and maintained by the cable routing guide without being tensed or stressed. In this manner, the at least one fiber optic cable that is routed to and through the fiber optic apparatus may not be affected by the movement of the module frame, the module, and/or the adapter between the first and second positions.

    • Patch panel assemblies (150) that contain patch panel modules (50) for use in optical fiber telecommunication systems are disclosed. One of the patch panel assemblies includes a front mounting frame (210F) and at least one internal mounting frame (210I) that support a plurality of patch panel modules. The patch panel assembly also includes a hinge assembly (224) configured allow bend-insensitive fiber cables (70) to be routed therethrough. One of the patch panel assemblies includes a housing (152) with a drawer (270) that supports a plurality of patch panel modules. The patch panel modules employ bend-insensitive optical fibers (12C) to connect front and rear ports (92, 98) so that the patch panels have a reduced size as compared to conventional patch panel modules. The patch panel assemblies include a cable distribution box (300) that can store excess cable and that assists in routing bend-insensitive fiber optic cables within the patch panel assembly interior (200) in order to connect to select patch panel module jacks (90).

A fiber parking area is movably disposed within the lower portion adjacent the second fiber distribution area for temporarily storing splitter output optical fibers that are not routed to the fiber distribution areas. An input fiber distribution area disposed within the interior interconnects an optical fiber of a feeder cable with the splitter input optical fiber. The splitter output optical fibers are eventually routed to a fiber distribution area and interconnected with a corresponding optical fiber of a distribution cable.

    • A cable routing guide having an arm with a first end and a second end is disclosed. The arm is adapted to attach the cable routing guide to a structure at the first end. A guide piece attaches to the arm at the second end. The guide piece has sides that enclose a passage adapted to receive at least one cable. The sides are concave, bowing toward the passage. The retainer is configured to maintain the at least one cable within the passage until the at least one cable is intentionally removed. The retainer has a retainer clip and/or a slot that allows the at least one cable to be received by the guide piece and to remain maintained within the guide piece until the at least one cable is intentionally removed. The slot may be at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the at least one cable. Additionally, the slot may be curvilinear or v-shaped. An attachment bracket connects to the first end of the arm. The attachment bracket may be connected at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the arm. The angle may be between about 0 degrees and 90 degrees. The cable routing guide may attach to the structure using the attachment bracket. A brace may be attached to the arm to support the cable routing guide.
