摘要： A data stream management system (DSMS) receives an input data stream from data stream sources and respective location information associated with sets of the data stream sources. A continuous query is executed against data items received via the input data streams to generate at least one client output data stream. A load shedding process is executed when the DSMS is overloaded with data from the input data streams. When the DSMS is not overloaded and for the location information associated with each of the data stream source sets, a respective utility value is determined indicating a utility to the client of data from the data stream source sets. The location information is stored in association with the corresponding data utility value. The location information received when the DSMS is overloaded is used, together with the data utility values, to identify input data streams whose data items are to be discarded.

摘要： There is provided a communication system (100) comprising: a first network node (200) that transmits a flow of data records to a second network node (300) via a network (500), the second network node having a data record processing module (600) that receives and processes the data records; and a controller (700) for controlling the transmission of data records by the first network node. The controller comprises: an acquisition7, -dule (710) operable to acquire data records of the flow of data records; a pattern recognition module (720) arranged to determine whether the data records acquired by the acquisition module (710) follow a pattern of one or more patterns each defining a respective sequence of data records and, when the acquired 'ata records follow a pattern of the one or more patterns, to determine which of the one or more patterns is being followed; âa control signal generator module (730) that generates, when the pattern recognition module has determined a pattern being followed by the acquired data records, an indication of the pattern being followed and at least one transmission control signal for the first network node to prevent the first network node from transmitting remaining data records to the second network node which correspond to data records that complete the sequence of data records defined by the pattern being followed. The system (100) also includes a pattern handler (800) having a data store (820) that stores the one or more patterns, the pattern handler being communicatively coupled to the data record processing module (600) via a communication path (900) that is separate from the network and responsive to the indication to predict the remaining data records using the pattern of the stored patterns that is indicated by the indication, and provide the predicted data records to the data record processing module (600) via the communication path (900).

摘要： A method is carried out by a data stream management system suitable for executing continuous queries on input data streams. Primary continuous queries are executed by, or provisioned to be executed by, the data stream management system on one or more input data streams in order to produce one or more output data streams. In the method, at least one secondary continuous query is generated for execution on the data stream management system on one or more input data streams. The generated secondary continuous queries are different from the primary continuous queries, and the secondary continuous queries are generated based on the at least one primary continuous query. The generation of secondary continuous queries notably enables, when ad-hoc continuous queries are requested, to quickly start outputting data streams for these ad-hoc queries. Data stream management systems and computer programs are also disclosed.

摘要： A controller for controlling the processing of a data stream by a data stream processing system having a plurality of data stream management systems, DSMSs. Each DSMS is arranged to execute a respective continuous query to generate an output data stream having continuous query execution results. The controller controls the execution of the continuous query on a windowed portion of a data stream when different DSMSs receive different parts of the data for the windowed portion. The controller selects, for processing of the windowed portion of the data stream, a single DSMS that is to execute the respective continuous query. The controller generates a control signal to cause only the selected DSMS to execute the continuous query using data in the data stream received thereby, so that the continuous query is executed on data in the windowed portion of the data stream only by the selected DSMS.
