    • An electronic timekeeping apparatus includes a temperature value generating circuit for generating a temperature value, a temperature value converting circuit including a slope adjusting circuit which provides a slope corrected output in accordance with a frequency versus temperature characteristic of the apparatus in response to the temperature value, a pace compensation data circuit for producing pace compensation data corresponding to the slope corrected output, and a pace compensating circuit for compensating pace of the apparatus in accordance with the pace compensation data. An offset adjustment circuit may operate on said temperature value or said slope corrected output. A method for compensating pace of an electronic timekeeping apparatus includes the steps of generating a temperature value corresponding to temperature of the apparatus, correcting the temperature value in accordance with slope of a frequency versus temperature characteristic of the apparatus to produce a slope corrected value, producing pace compensation data in response to the slope corrected value, and adjusting the pace in accordance with the pace compensation data.

    • An integrated circuit for an electronic timepiece includes at least one semiconductor nonvolatile memory device. Reference data can be checked across a pair of output terminals prior to being stored in at least one EPROM to check the accuracy and acceptability of the reference data for driving a motor of the timepiece. The reference data once written into the EPROM serves as control data. Both the reference data and control data are used for controlling at least one function of the timepiece. The control data also can be checked across the output terminals to determine its accuracy and acceptability for driving the motor. Testing of the reference data and control data can be performed on a faster than real time basis.

    • An electronic analog timepiece provides for elapsed and intermediate split time measurement with hands indicating fractions of a second, seconds and minutes. Hands do not move except by a user stop or split command. Then the hands rapidly move to positions indicating elapsed or split time. Alternatively, conventional continuous indications are provided except when the internal battery nears depletion, or intermittent operation of the hand indicating fractional seconds provides warning that the battery nears depletion. A wristwatch type analog display stopwatch using a plurality of step motors to drive the hands is produced.
