    • A thermal printhead is provided which comprises an insulating head substrate, a conductor pattern formed on the head substrate, a row of heating dots formed on the head substrate in electrical conduction with the conductor pattern, an array of drive ICs mounted on the head substrate and spaced from the row of heating dots, a resin body enclosing the array of drive ICs, and a protective coating covering the conductor pattern together with the row of heating dots. The protective coating comprises a smaller thickness portion at least at the row of heating dots, and a larger thickness portion held in contact with the resin body and extending to a position short of the row of heating dots.

    • A line-type thermal printing head comprises an elongate heat sink plate, an elongate head substrate mounted on the heat sink plate and carrying connection terminals arranged generally in a longitudinally central portion of the head substrate, a connector board overlapped on the central portion of the substrate board and having connection terminals corresponding to the connection terminals of the substrate board, and an elongate cover member overlapped on the connector board and provided with an elastic pressing member. The elastic pressing member comprises a diametrically larger portion for contact with the connector board and a pair of diametrically smaller portions located on both sides of the diametrically larger portion clear of the connector board.

    • A thermal printhead is provided which includes a head substrate (11) made of an insulating material, a heating element (12) arranged along an edge of the substrate, drive ICs (13) for driving the heating element, a temperature sensor (18) mounted on the head substrate for temperature monitoring of the heating element, and a heat sink (20) attached to the head substrate. The heat sink has a first surface for attachment to the head substrate and a second surface corresponding in location to the temperature sensor. The second surface faces the head substrate but is spaced therefrom to define a heat-transfer adjusting region (22). The head substrate and the heat sink are attached together by an adhesive member having a desired heat conductivity.
