    • In a transversal type equalizer having a series connected delay elements, multipliers are coupled with each output of each delay element and an adder adds outputs of the multipliers to provide an equalized output signal for equalizing a time division radio receive signal for every burst in mobile communication. A receive memory (11) stores the receive signal. A transversal type equalization process circuit (77a) is coupled with the output of the memory (11). A output memory (100) stores on equalized output signal. In training tap coefficients of a transversal filter, a tap or a delay element is precluded when an absolute value of a tap coefficient is less than a predetermined value, so that calculation amount for updating tap coefficients is decreased and tracking characteristics are improved. A multiplier (15) is inserted between an output of the receive memory (11) and an input of the equalization process circuit (77a) so that a signal which is subject to equalization is phase-shifted beforehand so that frequency offset between transmit frequency in a transmitter and local frequency in a receiver is compensated. The phase adjustment by the multiplier (15) depends upon residual phase error at an output of the equalization process circuit (77a). An output memory (100) is used as a training signal to initialize the tap coefficients of the equalization process circuit (77a) during a burst when equalized output signal has an error larger than a predetermined value.

    • A synchronization equipment performs correlation processing between a first known pattern included in a received signal and a second known pattern, and detects reception timing of the received signal. A correlation value computing portion computes a correlation value between the first known pattern and the second known pattern at every reception time. A reception timing detection portion compares the computed related value with a predetermined threshold value, determines the reception time when the correlation value becomes larger than the threshold value to be the reception timing of a received signal, and, after this determination, suspends the comparison between the correlation value and the threshold value, and holds the reception time determined to be the reception timing.

    • A baseband signal, obtained by quasi-coherent detecting a received signal, is sampled and written as a sequence of baseband signal samples into a buffer memory. For each baseband signal sample read out from the buffer memory, a maximum likelihood sequence estimation part generates a desired symbol sequence and feeds it to a transversal filter having a characteristic based on an estimated impulse response of the transmission path in correspondence with the timing of the baseband signal sample. A phase error between an estimated received signal from the transversal filter and the corresponding baseband signal sample is sequentially detected by a phase error detecting part. The phase error thus obtained is fed to an offset correcting signal generating part, which calculates an estimated offset angular frequency .DELTA..omega..sub.e on the basis of the phase error, generates an offset correcting signal of an angular frequency equal in absolute value to the estimated offset angular frequency but opposite thereto in the direction of rotation and feeds the offset correcting signal to a correcting multiplier. The correcting multiplier multiplies the baseband signal sample by the offset correcting signal to correct it to cancel an angular frequency offset, and a subtractor calculates a difference between the corrected baseband signal sample and the estimated received signal from the transversal filter.
