    • A grommet has a plurality of inner projecting strip portions and a plurality of outer projecting strip portions on inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the tapered portion, respectively. The plurality of inner and outer projecting strip portions respectively extend in an axial direction of the tapered portion and are spaced from each other in a circumferential direction. The outer projecting strip portions are located opposing to the inner projecting strip portions. A projection amount of the outer projecting strip portions is changed at a contact point. At the contact point, when the grommet is inserted into a through hole, the grommet first contacts an inner peripheral surface of the through hole. The projection amount between the contact point and a large diameter side end of the projecting strip portions is smaller than a second projection amount between the contact point and a small diameter side end.

    • A grommet is fit externally to a wire harness to be wired in a vehicle and mounted in a through hole of a vehicle-body panel. The grommet has a small-diameter cylindrical portion molded of elastomer and through which the wire harness is tightly inserted. A radial projection in the form of bellows projects radially out from an outer peripheral position of an intermediate longitudinal part of the small-diameter portion. An outer peripheral portion is connected to the outer peripheral end of the radial projection. The outer peripheral portion has a conical tubular shape and is connected at an intermediate longitudinal position to the radial projection. An annular vehicle-body locking recess is provided on the outer peripheral surface of a large-diameter side of the outer peripheral portion. A small-diameter side is thicker than the radial projection portion.

    • When a grommet provided with a wire insertion tubular portion is mounted in a through-hole of a vehicle body panel by engaging a vehicle body engagement recess on an outer periphery of the grommet with a peripheral edge of the through-hole, the present invention prevents the wire insertion tubular portion from being caught by the peripheral edge of the through-hole, bending toward the vehicle body engagement recess side, and being wedged in between the peripheral edge of the through-hole and the vehicle body engagement recess, and thus enables the grommet to be securely mounted in the through-hole. A rib is provided between an outer peripheral surface on a central axis line side of a wire insertion tubular portion and a peripheral wall of a central tubular portion in order to reinforce a base on the central axis line side of the wire insertion tubular portion.

    • Even if a wire harness that passes a grommet is bent sharply, a vehicle body latch recess of the grommet is not deformed, thereby enhancing a sealing function. A grommet includes: an inner tube for passing electrical cables in said wire harness in a close contact manner; and an outer tube contiguous with an outer peripheral surface of said inner tube and provided with a slant wall section. The slant wall section of the outer tube is provided with a curved portion at an outer diametrical position having an outer diameter corresponding to an inner diameter of the through-hole. The curved portion has a different inclination angle from the slant wall section. An inclination angle of an outer peripheral surface of the slant wall section at a larger diameter side with respect to the curved portion is set to be smaller than an inclination angle at a smaller diameter side with respect to the curved portion. A larger thickness portion is contiguous with a larger diameter end of the slant wall in parallel to an axial direction of the inner tube. A vehicle body latch recess is provided in an annular manner in an outer peripheral surface of a boundary area between the larger diameter end of the slant wall section and the larger thickness portion. A part from an inner peripheral surface of the larger thickness portion to an inner peripheral surface corresponding to the curved portion of the slant wall section extends in parallel to the axial direction of the inner tube. The part has a larger thickness. The slant wall section is provided on an outer peripheral surface with a plurality of stepped projecting ribs that extend from a smaller diameter end of the slant wall section to the larger diameter end and are spaced apart from one another in a peripheral direction. The slant wall section is provided in an inner peripheral surface of each stepped projecting rib with a recess that extends along a whole longitudinal length of the each stepped projecting rib.
