    • An image processing apparatus is provided which is capable of stably tracking a target even when an amount of characteristics of an image of the target varies on input pictures due to an abrupt movement of the target or other causes. An image processing apparatus (10) which tracks an image of a target on an input image includes a blur detection unit (12) detecting a trajectory of blur that is a trajectory indicating blur in a search region on the input picture, the search region including the image of the target and being determined using a picture captured temporally before the input picture; and a tracking processing unit (13) tracking the image of the target by specifying a target region using an end point of the trajectory of blur detected by the blur detection unit (12), the target region being a region including the image of the target and being smaller than the search region.

    • An image capturing device includes: a pre-capturing module which captures an imaging target at each of different focus positions in a predetermined focus range and outputs, as a capturing result, a plurality of pre-captured images lower in resolution than the output image; an object sharpness evaluating module which computes a sharpness level of each of the pre-captured images captured by the pre-capturing module; a focus varying range determining module which determines a focus position varying range within the predetermined focus range based on sharpness levels computed by the object sharpness evaluating module, such that a signal-to-noise ratio of the output image is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold; and an image capturing module which captures the imaging target while varying the focus position according to the focus position varying range determined by the focus varying range determining module, and outputs the output image as a capturing result.

    • Images of a target are stably tracked even when an image-capture environment changes. An image processing apparatus (10) includes: a storage unit (17) storing a first transform parameter corresponding to a first picture and information about an initial region; a transform parameter calculation unit calculating a second transform parameter according to an image-capture environment for a second picture; a first picture transform unit (13) transforming at least one of the first and second pictures using the first and second transform parameters; a tracking processing unit (15) tracking the images of the target by searching, using a picture obtained through the transformation by the first picture transform unit (13), for a region having an amount of characteristics that is close to an amount of characteristics of the initial region; a second picture transform unit (14) transforming the second picture using a third transform parameter having less variation between pictures successively captured than the second transform parameter; and an output unit (16) outputting a search result and a picture obtained through the transformation by the second picture transform unit (14).
