    • A body-insertable apparatus has a resonance circuit for emitting a resonance magnetic field by being guided by a drive magnetic field received from the outside. An external device has: a drive coil driving unit for outputting a drive signal having a predetermined frequency; a drive coil for receiving the output drive signal and generating the drive magnetic field in a detection space; a sense coil for detecting the resonance magnetic field and outputting a detection signal; a position deriving unit for deriving position information of the resonance circuit by using the detection signal; a current detecting unit for detecting a current amplitude value of the drive signal input to the drive coil; and a drive magnetic field generation control unit for calculating an amplitude value of a drive signal which is output from the drive coil driving unit by using the current amplitude value, detecting the degree of stability indicating whether a sharp change occurs in the drive magnetic field on the basis of the calculated amplitude value, and controlling the position deriving unit on the basis of the detected degree of stability in the drive magnetic field detected.

    • A position detecting system that detects the position of a body-insertable apparatus inserted into a subject includes: a driving-magnetic-field generating unit that generates a driving magnetic field in a detection space in which the subject into which the body-insertable apparatus, which generates a resonant magnetic field induced by the driving magnetic, is inserted is surrounded; a magnetic sensor that detects a magnetic field generated in the detection space; a position detecting unit that detects, based on the magnetic field detected by the sensor, a position and a direction of the body-insertable apparatus; a guiding unit that guides at least one of the position and the direction of the body-insertable apparatus to at least one of a position and a direction set as targets; a predicting unit that predicts, using the position and the direction detected by the position detecting unit, a position and a direction at certain time of the body-insertable apparatus; and a control unit that controls the driving-magnetic-field generating unit and the position detecting unit based on the position and the direction at the certain time predicted by the predicting unit.

    • A system includes an object in a space to generate an induced field; coils that generate a driving field; a detecting coil that detects a synthetic field of the driving field and the induced field; a unit that detects a driving current through the coil in synchronization with field detection by the detecting coil; a calculating unit that calculates a position and a direction of the object based on a detection value of the synthetic field and a detection value of the driving current; and a unit that calculates a phase of a driving field component which corresponds to the driving field at the detection value of the synthetic field, based on the detection value. The calculating unit obtains a component having a phase difference approximately orthogonal to the phase of the driving field component and calculates the position and direction of the object based on the obtained component.

    • An opening and closing apparatus having an opening and closing body, a drive portion, a control portion, and a detecting device is disclosed. The detecting device has a sensor portion for detecting the capacitance between the sensor portion and an object that is in the proximity of the sensor portion or is contacting the sensor portion. The detecting device detects that the object is in the proximity of the sensor portion or is contacting the sensor portion based on the capacitance detected by the sensor portion. If the detecting device detects contact of the object with the sensor portion when the opening and closing body is not being moved, the control portion controls the drive portion to start opening the opening and closing body. If the detecting device detects that the object is in the proximity of the sensor portion when the opening and closing body is being closed, the control portion controls the drive portion to stop or reverse the movement of the opening and closing body.
