    • The present invention provides an electrophotographic copying apparatus in which a copy sheet is attracted to and delivered by a transfer belt to perform a transfer operation, wherein a sag of the leading end of the copy sheet is removed to prevent the copy sheet from being attracted to a photoreceptor, venting method of preventing attraction of the copy sheet. Stacked copy sheets are individually separately supplied, with each of the copy sheets being electrostatically attracted to and delivered by the transfer belt. The copy sheet is held between the photoreceptor and the transfer belt and is in contact with them. The photoreceptor carries an electrostatic latent image corresponding to an image information and a toner electrostatically attracted to the electrostatic latent image. The toner image on the photoreceptor is transferred to the copy sheet. The leading end of the copy sheet delivered to a transfer section defined by the photoreceptor, the transfer belt and a transfer corrotron is slightly bent toward the photoreceptor.

    • A belt-type transfer device which includes an endless belt rotating in contact with a photosensitive drum, with the belt being electrically charged by a corona discharger in a region of contact between the belt and the drum. A plate is provided for shielding the belt from the corona discharging in a vicinity of an outlet of the contact area to reduce electrostatic traction forces between the drum and the sheet in a vicinity of the outlet. The corona discharger may be located near an inlet of the region of contact with respect to a center thereof or a dielectric or electrically conductive film may be provided on an inner surface of the corona discharger on the contact area outlet side to increase the electrical charge of the belt at the inlet and the central portion of the region of contact. A control system detects an electric resistance value of the sheet and changes the corona discharging intensity in accordance with a detected value to stabilize an electrical charge of the belt or, a control system may be provided for slightly lowering a moving speed of the sheet as compared with a rotational speed of the drum at an outlet of the region of contact. Surface roughness of the belt is 5 .mu.m or less and the sheet delivery guides are provided having a volume resistivity of 10.sup.11 .OMEGA.cm or less, which reduces electrical charge caused on the sheet due to frictional contact.

    • An electrophotographic apparatus has a heat-resistant endless belt having a portion which runs from a transfer position to a heat-fixing position, a driving drum for driving the endless belt, a transfer roller for transferring, at the transfer position, a toner image of information to be recorded from a photosensitive drum to the endless belt, a recording medium feed roller for feeding a sheet-type recording medium to the heat-fixing position, and a heater and a pressure roller which are disposed in the heat-fixing position and cooperative to transfer the toner image from the endless belt to the recording medium. The heater is disposed on the inner side of a loop of the endless belt, while the pressure roller is disposed outside the loop. The photosensitive drum, endless belt, transfer roller and heater are mounted on a common frame which is demountable from the frame of the apparatus. The pressure roller is mounted on the apparatus frame so as to be movable towards and away from the endless belt, thereby facilitating mounting and demounting of the common frame.

    • A copy sheet, to which a developed image has been transferred by a transfer device, continues to be attracted to a copy sheet carrying surface of an insulating film and delivered toward a fusing roller pair. A force in a direction for pressing the copy sheet toward the insulating film is exerted, by an attraction strengthening device, on the copy sheet which is passing the vicinity of a downstream end of the copy sheet carrying surface after the transfer operation. This force strengthens a force for retaining the copy sheet on the copy sheet carrying surface of the insulating film, so as to hinder a portion of the copy sheet from being bent upwardly to the side of a photoreceptor and separated from the insulating film. Thus, separation of the copy sheet from the insulating film can be prevented from extending as far as a transfer position.
