    • A process for producing a butene-ethylene copolymer which has 1-butene content of 60% by mol or more, Mw of 200,000 or more, and Mw/Mn of 3 or less, the process including a step of copolymerizing 1-butene and ethylene in the presence of a catalyst for polymerizing olefin, and said catalyst containing a transition metal complex of the following formula (1) as a catalytic component: in which M represents a Group 4 transition metal atom; A represents an atom of Group 16; B represents an atom of Group 14; Flu represents a group having a fluorenyl anion backbone; X1 and X2 each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or an alkyl group, an aralkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, an aralkyloxy group or an aryloxy group, each of which may be optionally substituted with a halogen atom, or a di-hydrocarbon-substituted amino group; and R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 are defined in the specification.
