    • In a starter, an electromagnetic switch is mounted to a seating. A lead wire of an exciting coil is led to an outside of a switch case by a coil-leading portion and is connected to a male terminal, which is fixed to the coil-leading portion by welding. The coil-leading portion is integrally provided with an end plate portion of a bobbin around which the exciting coil is wound. The coil-leading portion passes through and projects from a bottom surface of the switch case to the outside. A metal member, in a form of a plate, is insert-molded in the seating. A 50 terminal is provided on an end of the metal member and a female terminal is provided on an opposite end of the metal member. When the electromagnetic switch is mounted to a predetermined position of the seating, the female terminal engages with the male terminal.

    • The present invention relates to a starter for an engine, capable of driving the engine at a high torque at the beginning of the starting and of driving it in a high-rotation condition at the end of the starting. An inner circumferential tapered portion of a movable cam plate is pressed against an outer circumferential portion of an outer cam of a clutch so that the outer cam and an internal gear are integrated to rotate at the same speed. Thus, on the epicycle reduction principle, in an epicycle reduction gear device, a sun gear, a planetary gear and an arm portion enter an identical-rotation condition, that is, a reduction ratio 1 condition. Moreover, an outer circumferential tapered portion of the movable cam plate is pressed against a tapered portion of a housing so that the internal gear is placed into a fixed, non-rotatable condition, thereby providing an ordinary epicycle reduction to produce a high reduction ratio.

    • In a rotary electric machine, a collar for restricting expansion of coil ends includes a boss fitted on an armature rotation shaft, a flange radially extending from the boss and a pressing portion for pressing coil ends toward an armature core. The thickness of the boss is greater than that of the flange, so that the force F1 that is caused by deflection of the flange when coil ends expand due to a temperature increase is smaller than the force F2 that is required to remove the boss from the rotation shaft. The force F1 is applied to the boss in a direction that the collar separates from the armature core. Because the pressing portion presses against the coil ends toward the armature core through an insulation ring, the coil ends are restricted from expanding by a centrifugal force when the armature rotates.
