    • A recording method and apparatus useful for a photocopy device are disclosed utilizing light energy to move a record forming material onto a record medium. Light energy, particularly from a laser, is focused to minute size and scanned across a member supporting a record forming material. The intensity of the light beam is modulated with information between a level at which said record forming material remains on the support member and a level at which the record forming material is caused to move from the support member to a record medium. A lens mosaic can be used to concentrate the light beam at minute cavities on the support member for containing the record forming material, and this support member can take the form of a screen or a member integral with the lens mosaic having cavities therein. The lens mosaic can be in the form of a semi-cylindrical surface, and a plurality of record forming material support members can be used, each member supporting a material of a different color for producing a color copy.

    • Jack comprises ground engaging base, upright hollow tubular support post on base, load carrying column slidable in post, and linkages and latches to raise column. Interchangeable heads mounted on top of column are shaped and arranged for different loading conditions. An actuating lever is pivotally mounted on a fulcrum fixedly attached to the post and has a long manual operating arm and a short, forked actuating arm extending in the opposite direction. Tension links pivoted at their upper ends to the free ends of the forks carry latch pins at their lower ends spring biased to enter axial slots at opposite sides of the post and engage selected apertures axially spaced in columns. Lowering operating arm raises links, pins, and column. Lock pin passed through higher apertures in column rests on top of post to support load, and latch pins may be lowered to engage new apertures for successive lifting stages.

    • A fipple flute includes an oyster shaped hollow body providing a resonant chamber, a whistle type mouthpiece in the rim of the body chamber communicating with the resonant chamber and with the exterior through a slit in the body, and four pitch control openings in the resonant chamber of differing sizes, disposed at each side of a diametral plane through the body intersecting the mouthpiece and perpendicular to the rim plane, the holes spaced so as to be simultaneously engageable by fore finger and middle finger of each hand of the musician, the pitch hole sizes and locations relative to the resonant chamber enabling a full octave western chromatic scale of thirteen notes to be sounded without overblowing, an eyelet at the rim opposite the mouthpiece being provided with a necklace for carrying the flute. The four pitch control holes are disposed as at the corners of a trapezoid adapting same to a mnemonic musical notation consisting of a quartered square with shaded quarters corresponding to holes to be stopped. The body is made in two halves initially separated along the rim and glued together; polyester resin being the body material and the glue of the same material. After joining the halves, the glue flash is trimmed and the instrument tuned by pitch hole reaming or filling. Decorative exterior finishes are applied.

    • A tube structure is disclosed, for use within living tissue, incorporating a magnetic element whereby the location and length of the tube within tissue may be readily detected. In one disclosed form, the tube is seamless, flexible and is formed of non-fibrous imperforate material containing ferromagnetic material for magnetic detection. In the forms as disclosed, the ferromagnetic material comprises an integral metal strip, particulate or segments of material extending along the length of the tube. A separate grounding strip may also be included in a tube as disclosed, that is radio-opaque for X-ray detection. The tube generally is tapered to define a distal end. A magnetic detector for sensing the tube is also disclosed utilizing a movably supported gapped magnetic toroid.
