摘要： A copier capable of producing both color images and monochrome images is disclosed, which comprises a platen for mounting thereon a manuscript, a scanner unit adapted to reciprocate relative to the platen and generate image signals divided in three primary colors by reading the manuscript for each line or for each set of a plurality of lines, four thermal heads for receiving image signals and, in response thereto, selectively actuating heat generation elements, means for supplying the thermal heads with ink donor films of four colors including black, and means for effecting thermal transfer printing on record paper.

In generating each energization level, the present and previous status of an individual heater element and selected neighboring elements are taken into consideration. Other factors combined in a selectively weighted manner include the latent heat of the individual heater element and its neighboring heater elements, the resistance of the heater element, the percentage of heater elements to be activated during the printing of a line, and the temperature of the substrate.

摘要： A heat transfer recording medium which comprises tissue paper having thereon an ink layer comprised of material fluidizable or sublimatable upon the application of heat. The tissue paper has a thickness of 5 to 25 .mu.m, a density of 0.8 to 1.45 g/cm.sup.3, a smoothness of 200 to 20,000 seconds (determined by the Oken type measurement) and a water content adjusted to 6 to 13 wt % after forming the ink layer thereon. The medium does not generate puckers when employed in a transfer type heat sensitive recording apparatus under high temperature and humidity conditions.

摘要： A copying machine records an image on a recording sheet through the use of an ink donor sheet with thermally transferable ink. The copying machine includes a platen of glass for supporting an original to be copied, a scanner unit movable reciprocally relative to the platen for reading a series of lines on the original and for generating an image signal for each line, a thermal head having a heating region for selectively generating thermal pulses in response to the image signal from the scanner unit, an ink donor sheet supply assembly for supplying the thermal head with an ink donor sheet coated with thermally transferable ink which can be fluidized or sublimable upon being heated, a recording sheet supply assembly for supplying a recording sheet in the vicinity of the thermal head, a contacting assembly for bringing the supplied recording sheet into intimate contact with a heating region of the thermal head with the ink donor sheet interposed between the thermal head and the recording sheet, and a recording sheet discharging assembly for discharging the recording sheet peeled off the ink donor sheet after the image has been recorded on the recording sheet.

摘要： A thermal head drive circuit with the input connected to a source of printing data and the output connected to a thermal head including heater elements, so as to improve the picture quality of a thermal head recording apparatus for printing successive lines. Improved picture quality is effected by using data from previously printed lines to compute a corrected pulse energy for the line being printed. The circuit uses a heat storage state operator for operating the heat storage state of each of the heater elements constituting a thermal head, a pulse energy operator for computing a printing pulse energy to be applied to each of the heater elements, a memory for storing the electrical pulse energy used in the previously printed line, and a counter to count the number of dots on the line to be printed. The pulse energy operator uses data from the heat storage state operator, the counter, and from the memory which has data on the pulse energy used in previously printed lines. The output of the pulse energy operator is connected to a pulse generator which is used to drive the heater elements of a thermal head.
