摘要： A liquid crystal display includes: a first substrate and a second substrate disposed opposite the first substrate; a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates and including liquid crystal molecules; a gate line which transmits a gate signal; first and second data lines which respectively transmit first and second data voltages, the first and second data voltages having opposite polarities; a first switching element connected to the gate line and the first data line; a second switching element connected to the gate line and the second data line; a first subpixel electrode connected to the first switching element; and a second subpixel electrode connected to the second switching element. The first and second subpixel electrodes overlap portions of the first and second data lines. The first and second subpixel electrodes include first and second branches, respectively, which are alternately arranged between the first and second data lines.

摘要： A liquid crystal display includes; a first substrate, a gate line disposed on the first substrate, a first data line disposed substantially perpendicularly to the gate line on the first substrate, and which insulates and the gate line, a first thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the first data line, a first pixel electrode connected to the first thin film transistor, a liquid crystal capacitor including the first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode as two terminals thereof, and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode, and a short transistor having a control terminal connected to a previous gate line, and which is controlled to short the first pixel electrode to a voltage approaching a voltage of the second pixel electrode.

A thickness-direction phase retardation value of the negative C-plate is equal to or less than a value acquired by subtracting about 75 nanometers from a thickness-direction phase retardation value of the liquid crystal layer and the thickness-direction phase retardation value of the negative C-plate is equal to or greater than a value acquired by subtracting about 275 nanometers from the thickness-direction phase retardation value of the liquid crystal layer.

摘要： A display substrate includes a base substrate, a reflection-polarization member, a first electrode, an insulation layer and a pixel wall. The reflection-polarization member is disposed on the base substrate to reflect and polarize incident light. The first electrode is disposed in a unit pixel area of the reflection-polarization member. The insulation layer is disposed on the first electrode. The pixel wall is disposed on the insulation layer and defines the unit pixel area. Therefore, the entire area of a unit pixel may be used as a reflective area or a transmissive area, and thus an aperture ratio may be improved in a reflection mode or a transmission mode.

摘要： A liquid crystal display device provides for improved alignment of its liquid crystal molecules by having an alignment layer with polymer branches that are cured so as to reinforce a predefined orientation of the liquid crystal molecules even when no voltages are applied to the pixel-electrodes and/or common electrode of the device. Bruising of the screen can thus be rapidly repaired. In one embodiment, the device includes: first and second substrates opposed to each other; a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules interposed between the substrates; a gate line formed on the first substrate; first and second data lines formed on the first substrate and connected for transmitting first and second data voltages having different polarities; a first and second switching elements respectively connected to the gate line and the first or second data line; first and second pixel electrodes that are connected to the first and second switching elements, respectively; an alignment layer formed on the first and second pixel electrodes; and a polymer layer including a plurality of cured prepolymers that are cured so as to prearrange the liquid crystal molecules in a desired orientation.
