The mounting bracket defines a rake slot having rake slot teeth and a telescope slot having telescope slot teeth. A shaft extends through the rake slot and the telescope slot transverse to a longitudinal axis of the column jacket. A rake lock having rake lock teeth is disposed within the rake slot and a telescope lock having telescope lock teeth is disposed within the telescope slot. The shaft extends through and rotatably supports the rake lock and the telescope lock.     • A steering column assembly and method of preventing rotation of a tilt mechanism relative to a steering column during application of a predetermined force is disclosed. The tilt mechanism is coupled to the steering column and includes a tilt head pivotable about a tilt axis with a lever and a moveable shoe pivotally mounted to the tilt head respectively. The moveable shoe pivots between an engaged position for preventing rotation of the tilt head and a disengaged position for allowing rotation of the tilt head. A stopping member is coupled to at least one of the lever and the tilt head for deforming at least one of the tilt and the lever to maintain the moveable shoe in the engaged position and to prevent the tilt head from pivoting about the tilt axis upon a predetermined force applied to the steering column.

    • The invention provides for a power steering assembly and method of actuation for assisting a driver in moving the steerable wheels of a vehicle. The power steering assembly includes a housing that defines a chamber. A steering rod is disposed in the chamber and is longitudinally moveable within the chamber. A shoulder is fixed to the steering rod and has opposing sides. A shaft is supported by the housing and engages the steering rod translating the rotational movement of the shaft into a longitudinal movement of the steering rod. A first actuator and second actuator are disposed in the chamber on opposing sides of the shoulder. The first and second actuators each have an excitable material that is controlled in a series of actuations to advance the actuators in a linear movement for pushing against the shoulder to move the steering rod longitudinally within the chamber.

    • The invention provides for a power steering assembly and method of actuation for assisting a driver in moving the steerable wheels of a vehicle. The power steering assembly includes a housing that defines a chamber. A steering rod is disposed in the chamber and is longitudinally moveable within the chamber. A shoulder is fixed to the steering rod and has opposing sides. A shaft is supported by the housing and engages the steering rod translating the rotational movement of the shaft into a longitudinal movement of the steering rod.
