摘要： A backflush filter cleaning system for use with a vacuum cleaner employing an internal filter may include a filter cage having a first end, a second end and a peripheral opening, a backflush valve coupled to the first end, an intake plenum coupled to the second end, the plenum having an air outlet, an inlet valve coupled between the peripheral opening and the air outlet, and a cleaning actuator coupled to at least one of the valves. The system can be adapted to clean a filter coupled to a vacuum cleaner where the system can include a means for establishing a first airflow path from inside the collector through the filter, to the vacuum source, a means for flowing air along the first airflow path, and a means for establishing a second airflow path from an atmosphere surrounding the vacuum cleaner through the backflush valve, through the filter, and into the collector to clean the filter.

摘要： The present invention is a handle used for pulling a wet/dry vacuum appliance and a mechanism for securely mounting such a handle to the lid of the vacuum. The mounting mechanism is designed for ease of assembly and reduced fastener cost. The handle is attached at two of its four attachment points by inserting journals molded into the sides of the handle into open bearing pockets molded in handle receiving recesses on the lid of the vacuum. The handle is then rotated into place and secured at the remaining two attachment points with suitable fasteners, such as screws. In certain embodiments of this invention, when the handle is rotated into position for attachment a locking slot in the bottom surface of the handle engages a rib provided in the handle receiving recess of the lid. This rib guides the handle as it rotates, prevents the journals from sliding back out of the bearing pockets, and locks the handle into the proper position for insertion of the fasteners.

摘要： A floor brush nozzle assembly for a vacuum cleaner is disclosed. The floor brush nozzle assembly includes an elongated generally rectangular shaped nozzle housing including a connecting passageway for association with the vacuum cleaner. A U-shaped channel surrounds the nozzle housing for receiving an upper formed end of a floor brush. The U-shaped channel includes peripherally spaced ribs that cause a complementary U-shaped formed end of the floor brush to releasably and resiliently engage undercut areas in the U-shaped channel for releasably mounting the floor brush relative to the nozzle housing. The upper formed end of the floor brush may also have an undercut configuration to enhance releasable engagement with the undercut areas in the U-shaped channel. The upper formed end of the floor brush is preferably a metal component while the nozzle housing is a molded plastic component. In order to pick up fine debris as well as larger media such as rocks or wood chips, the floor brush may be provided with shorter leading bristles and longer trailing bristles for this purpose.

The detachable blower, when mounted in sealed relationship to a lid positioned above a utility vacuum cleaner drum, operates as a wet/dry utility vacuum cleaner. When separated from the utility vacuum cleaner drum, the detachable blower can be used for non-vacuuming applications. The utility vacuum drum lid includes two resilient and deformable latches: a releasable blower latch and a releasable lid latch. The releasable blower latch detachably mounts the detachable blower to the lid while the releasable lid latch detachably mounts the lid relative to the utility vacuum cleaner drum. The releasable blower latch has at least one reinforcing fin for engaging a complementary slot in the lid. The releasable lid latch has at least one slot for receiving a complementary reinforcing fin on the lid. The seating of the reinforcing fins in the respective slots, when the respective latches are in an engaged position, prevents the deformation of the respective latches and unwanted disattachment from the vacuum cleaner.

Additional features incorporated in the detachable blower include a stable platform to enable the detachable blower to stand in an upright condition and a scroll design exhaust to increase blower efficiency. The wet/dry vacuum cleaner includes a diffuser for exhaust air flow providing circumferential air exhaust for reducing the velocity of exhaust air.
