    • An exercise equipment for use by people in wheelchairs has a stationary frame within which a user can readily located their wheelchair, including attachment structure for securing the lower body of the user to the chair. A guide frame pivotally secured to the stationary frame is readily adjustable in its angle of inclination, which angle defines the plane of displacement in which weight-lifting exercise is performed by the user. A load bar is secured to the guide frame, for displacement therealong by the user, in carrying out their selected exercise. The load bar is connected by its ends in load transfer relation with two sets of selectively adjustable weights. Use of a load bar in sliding relation with a guide frame diminishes the risk of loss of control of the weights. The equipment may be readily used and adjusted in relation to the angle of lift and the required weight load, by a majority of users, despite significant incapacitation.

    • The invention provides a restraint and transfer device for restraining a seated passenger, such as a child, for transport in a vehicle and for mechanically lifting the passenger in and out of the vehicle. A mounting frame is secured to a passenger seat of the vehicle with standard lap and shoulder seat belts. A cushioned transfer seat insert is used to seat the passenger in a suitably adapted wheelchair, during lifting in and out of the vehicle, and within the vehicle securely mounted to the frame. As a result, the passenger remains seated in a rigid supporting transfer seat insert. The passenger is not subjected to physical handling and the risk of injury to the caregiver and passenger is reduced during transfer. Releasable body postural positioning belts secure the passenger to the insert and the configuration of insert cushions, supports and postural belts can be flexibly adapted to suit the needs of each individual passenger. Mounting mechanisms on the frame and insert releasably mount and secure the insert to the frame. Restraint belts secure the passenger to the frame sufficiently to satisfy crash survival requirements. Suspension mechanisms attach to the lateral sides of the insert back and insert seat for suspending the insert and passenger seated therein from the vehicle roof top surface during lifting between a standby position outside the vehicle and a mounted position on the frame within the vehicle.

    • A support cushion for children's furniture defines a seat cushion area and a back cushion area and has a seating surface that extends over those areas and is contoured to provide positional support and comfort for a child seated on the cushion. The cushion preferably is a one-piece closed cell foam moulding which is flexible to permit variation in the relative angular orientation between the seat cushion and the back cushion area. The seat includes a raised transverse barrier that is spaced forwardly of the rear of the seat for controlling rotation of the pelvis of a child. The cushion further includes a pair of side support pads that extend forwardly from respectively opposite sides of the back to locate against the trunk of a child and cushion against side-to-side movement.
