    • In a sludge collector mechanism having a sludge flight for scraping settled sludge off the bottom of a settling tank and skimming floating waste from the surface of the water contained in the tank, a support rail assembly for maintaining the flight on a level generally even with the surface of the water, the support rail assembly comprising a non-metallic longitudinal track on which the end of the flight is slideably supported and at least one non-metallic mounting bracket for securing the track relative to the sidewall of the settling tank. The track comprises a cross section having a substantially horizontal rail portion, a transverse stem extending downward from the underside of the rail portion, and two opposing fingers, one extending upward from the bottom of the stem and one extending downward from the underside of the rail portion. The mounting bracket comprises a mounting plate through which the mounting bracket can be bolted to the sidewall and a mounting head having two opposing grooves into which the two opposing fingers are slideable received to thereby connect the track to the mounting bracket.

    • An assembly for removing grit from a fluid comprising a tank with a fluid inlet into the tank and a discharge from the tank. A flow directing assembly is positioned in the tank adjacent the fluid inlet and includes a substantially U-shaped surface opposite the fluid inlet such that fluid entering the tank through the inlet is caused to have a reversed flow in a direction more than 90 degrees from an inlet flow direction. At least one embodiment of the assembly further comprises a baffle positioned proximate the tank discharge to control flow adjacent the discharge. Yet a further embodiment of the assembly includes a screw conveyor positioned in a trough of the tank and a baffle is positioned proximate the trough to minimize fluid flow velocity adjacent to the screw conveyor.

    • A filter screen that is used in filtering water and that includes a frame and a grid assembly that is supported by the frame for movement. The grid assembly includes a continuous unbroken drive chain having a guide link, and a screen panel. The screen panel is coupled to the guide link for selective movement between an operating condition and a maintenance condition. When the screen panel is in the operating condition the screen panel is fixed relative to the guide link for movement with the guide link and for filtering water. In the maintenance condition, the screen panel is pivotable relative to the guide link to permit access to the interior of the filter screen for inspection of chain components.

    • The bar screen of the present invention includes a bar rack and a cleaning rake. The bar rack includes a plurality of aligned bars and is adapted to be at least partially positioned within the channeled water. The cleaning rake is movably coupled to the bar rack and includes a plurality of tooth segments. Each tooth segment includes a base portion and a plurality of teeth. The base portion is coupled to the cleaning rake, and the plurality of teeth is connected to the base portion. Each tooth of the plurality of teeth is adapted to be inserted between adjacent bars on the bar rack to remove debris that has accumulated on the upstream side of the bar rack. The teeth are breakable from the base when the teeth engage immovable debris trapped within the bar rack.
