    • A connector for an electric power supply device is disclosed. The connector is arranged to mate a corresponding connector at an apparatus to which the electrical power supply device is arranged to supply electrical power, wherein the connector comprises at least one electrical contact; a housing having a first part arranged grippable by a user when the user connects or disconnects the connector to the device, and a second part slidably arranged with the first part; at least one electrical contact arranged on one of said first or second part, wherein a first force for connecting the at least one electrical contact to the corresponding mating connector is higher than a second force for causing sliding between said first and second parts; and a switch arranged to be actuated based upon relative positions of said first and second parts, wherein said switch is arranged to electrically control connection and disconnection of an electrical power input of the electric power supply device. A power supply device is also disclosed.

    • A power adapter includes a primary side for receiving power from a mains power supply; a secondary side for providing operating and/or charging power, derived from the primary side, to an electronic device connected to the secondary side; presence logic for determining whether the electronic device is connected to the secondary side; and switching logic for turning off the primary side automatically when the presence logic determines the electronic device is not connected. The power adapter thus shuts itself down if no electronic device is attached, and automatically starts itself up when a device is connected to the power adapter and is thus needed. The power adapter may also include voltage detection logic that detects when the device is fully charged. The power adapter also shuts itself down when an attached electronic device becomes fully charged, and automatically starts itself up when the charged state of the electronic device falls below a predetermined level. While shut down, the power adapter consumes either no power or very little power. The power adapter may wake itself up and provide power to a device even in the event the device itself is without power, such as when the device is turned off and/or has a flat or dead battery.

    • A display unit for a portable electronic device includes a display panel having a plurality of display elements and configured to display information after a power supply signal to the display panel is interrupted, and a display driver circuit configured to control the presentation of information by the display panel. The display driver circuit is further configured to control a state of at least some of the display elements in response to a reset signal. The display unit further includes a reset circuit coupled to the display driver circuit and configured to generate a reset signal in response to an interruption of the power supply signal. The reset circuit includes an energy storage element configured to supply energy to the display unit while the display elements are reset.
