Also disclosed is a process to prepare this composition and articles therefrom.

摘要： A fire-resistant polyestercarbonate composition comprises a polyestercarbonate polymer, a polycarbonate polymer, and a salt based flame retardant. The polyestercarbonate polymer comprises a polycarbonate unit and a polyester unit, the polyester unit derived from the reaction of isophthalic acid, terephthalic acid, and resorcinol. The composition can achieve UL94 V0 performance at 0.71 mm thickness. The composition can also maintain physical, mechanical, and processing properties with high loadings of TiO2.

The compositions have excellent scratch resistance as well as an improved balance of physical properties such as melt flow, while at the same time maintaining their good flame performance.

Specifically, a composition comprising: (a) a branched polycarbonate resin, (b) a flame retardant, (c) at least one linear phenyl containing siloxane and at least one cyclic phenyl containing siloxane, and (d) a linear polycarbonate resin when said branched polycarbonate is less than 100% based upon weight percent of total polycarbonate in said composition, wherein the amounts of said branched and linear polycarbonate resins, said linear siloxanes and cyclic siloxanes, and flame retardant are in amounts effective to provide a molded article from said composition with a UL94 V0 p(FTP) value of 0.90 or greater at a thickness of between 1 mm and 2.5 mm or at 2.5 mm or at 1.5 mm or at 1 mm is disclosed. In addition, a composition comprising: (a) a linear polycarbonate resin, (b) a flame retardant, (c) at least one phenyl-containing linear siloxane and at least one phenyl-containing cyclic siloxane, wherein the amounts of said linear polycarbonate resins, said phenyl-containing linear siloxanes and said phenyl-containing cyclic siloxanes, and said flame retardant are in amounts effective to provide a molded article of said composition with a UL94 V0 p(FTP) value of 0.90 or greater at a thickness of between 1 mm and 2.5 mm or at 2.5 mm or at 1.5 mm or at 1 mm is disclosed.
