The driver support part and the clincher support part are simultaneously movable in a right/left direction by substantially the same amount. After a clamping operation of clamping the sheets of paper between the driver support part and the clincher support part, the driver carries out a stapling operation. In cooperation with the clamping operation, the first positioning element and the second positioning element engage with each other.
