摘要： A coating method characterized in that the method comprises the steps of applying a thermosetting coating composition containing a pigment to a substrate to be coated, applying a first clear coating composition to the coat to form a first clear coat, baking the two coats at the same time for curing, applying to the cured coats a second clear coating composition capable of forming a second clear coat having, when cured, a molecular weight between crosslinks of about 200 or less as determined by a xylene-swelling method and baking the second clear coat for curing.

摘要： A dispersion of fine particles of a gelled polymer obtainable by copolymerizing and crosslinking a vinyl monomer mixture containing at least 0.5% by weight each of at least two vinyl monomers in the presence of a macromonomer A, which has a molecular chain of poly(12-hydroxystearic acid) and has at least about one polymerizable unsaturated double bond per molecule in average, and a macromonomer B, which is a copolymer of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer and has a solubility parameter value of from 7.5 to 9.2 and about 1.0 to about 1.5 in average of polymerizable unsaturated double bonds, in an organic solvent which is capable of dissolving the macromonomers A and B but is substantially incapable of dissolving a polymer from said vinyl monomer mixture; and a curable resin composition comprising a dispersion of fine particles of the above-described gelled polymer, a base resin which is non-compatible with the macromonomer A but is compatible with the macromonomer B and which forms a continuous phase, and at least one crosslinking agent selected from the group consisting of an amino resin and a polyisocyanate compound.

摘要： A coating method, which comprises(i) applying to a substrate a multilayer film-forming cationic electrodeposition paint composed of(A) a cationic electrodepositable epoxy resin having a surface tension of 40 to 60 dynes/cm and being able to form a cathodically electrodepositable aqueous bath by neutralization with an acid, and(B) a nonionic film-forming resin having a surface tension of 25 to 45 dynes/cm, the weight ratio of resin (A) to resin (B) being from 60:40 to 98:2 and the surface tension of resin (A) being greater than that of resin (B), and curing the coated film by heating,(ii) applying a water-base or organic solvent-base colored paint as a first top coat, and(iii) applying as a second top coat a powder paint capable of forming a transparent film which may be colored.
