    • To provide a plurality of magazines very closely by saving the space for forming the moving path that is required for allowing a cartridge transporting device to move. A movable magazine that is capable of moving in the lateral direction individually is provided between a first and a second fixed magazines located on both sides. The movable magazine is moved from the position of a cartridge loading/unloading face that corresponds to a cell to which a cartridge as a mount target for a magnetic tape drive is being housed or a cell to which a cartridge that is unmounted from the magnetic tape drive is to be housed so as to form a longitudinal moving path for allowing the cartridge transporting device to move between the magazines neighboring to each other.

    • To provide a magnetic tape library device capable of easily exchanging a specific cartridge required to be exchanged under the mailslot function and shortening the time for inventory with a simple structure even with the magazine where a plurality of stages of cells for housing the magnetic tape cartridges inside thereof are loaded. The magnetic tape library device includes: a magazine which houses cartridges via a plurality of stacked cells; a device main body which houses the magazine to be freely movable; an accessor which transports the magnetic tape cartridge extracted from the magazine towards a magnetic tape drive; and a cartridge exchange number restricting mechanism which restricts the magnetic tape cartridges from being ejected out from remaining cells except for the cell where at least a specific magnetic tape cartridge is housed out of the plurality of cells on the very front row of the drawn out magazine.

    • An optical disk apparatus is provided, in which the optical disk tray can slide smoothly in and out, and the insertion and removal of an optical disk is facilitated, and wherein inadvertent scratches are not produced on the optical disk surface, and flying pieces of optical disk damaged during rotation are completely prevented from exiting the apparatus. By dividing a protrusion for preventing a damaged optical disk from flying out of the apparatus into a first protrusion and a second protrusion, with one protrusion provided on an optical disk tray and the other on a support member, any possibility of the optical disk flying out of the apparatus can be completely prevented, even if the height of each of the first and second protrusions is lowered. Because the second protrusion is lowered, the protrusion will not catch on the optical disk tray or the optical disk, and so a smooth sliding operation of the optical disk tray can be ensured.

A head driver includes a rack provided on a recording head that slidingly moves over a recording disc and a pinion engaged with the rack and rotated by a drive motor, wherein there are provided a concave groove, provided on the rack and running in parallel with rack tooth, and a swing arm with which a rigid guide, guided by the concave groove, is integrated and on which a rotation axis of the pinion is provided. When the rack is at a slant with the movement direction, the swing arm swings, following the slant of the rack to keep constant the spacing between the rack and the pinion.
