    • There is provided a magnetic recording medium having an extremely thin magnetic layer, in which, not only corrosion of the magnetic layer is suppressed, but also the storage properties and the electromagnetic conversion properties are improved. The magnetic recording medium comprises: an elongated nonmagnetic substrate; a first shielding layer comprised of a metal or an alloy; a second shielding layer comprised of a material which is more hardly oxidized than the first shielding layer, and a magnetic layer, formed by a vacuum thin film formation technique, having a thickness of 55 nm or less. A total thickness of the first shielding layer and the second shielding layer is 2 to 50 nm.

    • A device for detecting operation of a brake pedal comprises: a first hydraulic chamber 9 in which fluid is pressurized by a first piston 7 connected with a brake pedal 1 when the brake pedal 1 is pushed downward; a second hydraulic chamber 13 communicated with the first hydraulic chamber 9 via an orifice 11 of small diameter; a first hydraulic pressure sensor 19 for detecting hydraulic pressure in the first hydraulic chamber; and a second hydraulic pressure sensor 20 for detecting hydraulic pressure in the second hydraulic chamber. The control unit 24 controls a motor (braking device) 22 in accordance with a difference .increment.P in pressure obtained by the values of detection conducted by the first hydraulic pressure sensor 19 and the second hydraulic pressure sensor 20.

    • An electric thrusting unit for a disc brake with an electric parking mechanism includes a worm reduction gear and a thrust generation mechanism. The thrust generation mechanism converts rotational movement transmitted by way of the worm reduction gear into linear movement. A worm wheel of the worm reduction gear is supported on the thrust generation mechanism concentrically with a rotational member of the thrust generation mechanism. A drive side gearwheel and a driven side gearwheel are meshed with an output shaft of the electric motor directly or by way of an additional gearwheel so as to transmit a rotational force of the output shaft to the worm. The drive side gearwheel is provided concentrically with the output shaft and so as to rotate together therewith. The driven side gearwheel is provided on a part of the worm concentrically with the worm and so as to rotate together therewith.
