    • A heavy hydrocarbon feed stock is, after being heat-treated in a first cracking zone, introduced into a second thermal cracking zone for obtaining a thermally cracked product and a pitch product. The second cracking zone has a plurality of cracking reactors which are connected in series, through which is successively passed the treated feed stock and to each of which is supplied a gaseous heat transfer medium to maintain the liquid phase therein at a temperature sufficient for effecting the thermal cracking and to strip the resulting distillable, cracked components from the liquid phase. The thermal cracking temperature in one reactor is so controlled as to become higher than that in its adjacent upstream-side reactor. The distillable, cracked components in respective reactors are removed overhead therefrom and separated into a heavy fraction and a light fraction, while the liquid phase in the downstream-end reactor is discharged therefrom for recovery as the pitch product. The light fraction is recovered as a light product oil, while the heavy fraction is fed to a third thermal cracking zone for obtaining a tar-containing product which is recycled to at least one of the reactors of the second thermal cracking zone.

    • An electric leakage detection apparatus may quickly detect an electric leakage. An electric leakage detection apparatus includes a pulse generator that supplies a pulse to a coupling capacitor, a voltage detector that detects a voltage at the coupling capacitor, an electric leakage determination unit that compares the voltage detected by the voltage detector to a first threshold and determines presence or absence of the electric leakage of a DC power supply based on a comparison result. The electric leakage detection apparatus also includes a discharge determination unit that compares the voltage detected by the voltage detector to a second threshold lower than the first threshold and determines whether the detection voltage becomes lower than the second threshold by a discharge of the coupling capacitor. The pulse generator generates a new pulse when the discharge determination unit determines that the detection voltage becomes lower than the second threshold.

    • A technique for achieving a risk-free keyless entry system for vehicles at low costs is disclosed. The keyless entry system includes a transmitter responsive to an operation of an operation unit for transmitting a signal indicative of to-be-sent information toward an on-board device at a prespecified communication rate. The on-board device is attached to inside of a vehicle, for receiving electrical waves as sent from the transmitter and for outputting a control signal used to drive electric motors of door lock actuators and/or a motor of slide door actuator. By changing the communication rate of the signal being sent from the transmitter, the door lock control signal is made shorter in arrival distance than the slide door control signal.

    • Communication with less noise is to be performed. A voltage value control signal functioning as an instruction to change the voltage value supplied from a voltage converting section to an LFI is output from a CPU. A driving section for the LFI outputs the control signal at 125 kHz that drives an FET circuit section according to the voltage value supplied from an ECU. The FET circuit section outputs the driving current for an antenna under the control of the driving section. A connecter terminal that connects to a harness is connected to a connecter terminal for GND connection along with the GND terminal of the voltage converting section.
