    • First sensors measure physical quantities correlated with the heat release value of a fire source, and second sensors measure physical quantities correlated with the amount of the product of burning. At least a pair of one first sensor and one second sensor are arranged in a zone to be monitored. A first threshold of high sensitivity and a second threshold of low sensitivity are set at the first sensors. A third threshold is set at the second sensors. A pre-alarm is given only when the level of signals from the second sensors exceeds the third threshold. A fire alarm is given when the level of the signals from the second sensors exceeds the third threshold and when the level of signals from the first sensors exceeds the first threshold. The outputs from a plurality of such sensors detecting different objects, such as heat and smoke, are processed in the manner in which these outputs are combined together to reliably detect fires and to give a fire alarm. It is possible to improve the accuracy of detecting fires, and to reduce the incidence of false alarms.

    • A fire discriminating apparatus for determining whether there is the outbreak of fire in an area under surveillance in accordance with the temperature difference between a temperature detection value of the area and a reference temperature. The apparatus includes a temperature sensor for detecting an ambient temperature; sampling means for sampling the detected temperature of the temperature sensor at a given period, temperature difference detecting means for computing a temperature difference between the detected temperature and a reference temperature each time the detected temperature is sampled by the sampling means, fire discriminating means whereby when the temperature difference is greater than a predetermined threshold value the outbreak of a fire is determined and an alarm command signal is generated, and reference temperature correcting means whereby a correction value obtained by multiplying the temperature difference obtained upon each sampling by a given factor smaller than 1 is added to the reference temperature to correct the reference temperature for the detection of temperature difference during the next sampling.

    • The present invention relates to a construction of a control switch for use in measuring instruments of various types, such as digital indication type slide calipers. A link member is pivotally supported and pivoting thereof is effected by a movement of a control button. The link member is interposed between a switch portion for effecting the electrical connection or disconnection and the control button, which control button is provided in a side wall of a case body disposed for movement in a direction perpendicular to the working direction of the switch portion, and, when the link member is pivoted by movement of the control button, the electrical connection or disconnection can be effected.
