    • The present invention teaches and claims an electronic appliance for controlling a device via a controller comprises an application managing unit, a storing unit, a controller API and a secondary API. The application managing unit manages an application. The application is prepared with the use of an API, which operates the device to offer a service to a user, and is selected upon activation of the electronic appliance. The storing unit stores information about a correlation between the application and the API. The controller API is called by the application, and issues a request to the controller such that the controller operates the device. The secondary API has an interface so as not to be implemented in the controller API, and is called by the application on the basis of any correlation information, which consequently starts up the application with the use of the interface when version information of the API is newer than version information of the controller API.

    • In order to control the direction of a beam antenna, at least one magnetic sensor is attached to the antenna for measuring at least one of the horizontal and vertical components of the geomagnetic field. A magnetic sensor circuit converts the output of the magnetic sensor into an electric signal which varies corresponding to changes in the measured geomagnetic field according to the direction of the antenna. A processor determines the current direction of the antenna based on an output of the magnetic sensor circuit and outputs a control signal for setting the antenna in a desired direction. A motor rotates the antenna, and a power source drives the motor. A control unit receptive of a motor control signal output by the processor controls the rotation of the antenna.

    • To achieve a pseudo experience of launching a shuriken with improved presence feeling. A game device includes: a housing; a light source; an optical mechanism; a movement detection sensor; and a light source driver. The housing is configured to be held on a first palm of an operator. The housing includes a front protruding portion which protrudes forward and an upper surface which faces upward. The light source is housed in the housing and configured to emit light. The optical mechanism is housed in the housing and projects the light from the light source forward from a tip of the front protruding portion. The movement detection sensor detects forward movement of a second palm of the operator on the upper surface, wherein the second palm is different from the first palm. The light source driver drives the light source based on movement detection by the movement detection sensor.
