    • A liquid crystal display includes a signal controller having a luminance controller receiving image data from an external graphic source and controlling the luminance of the image data such that the luminance at the gray expressed by a specific data value of the image data is established to be 80 cd/m2, and a gamma converter outputting image data each having a gamma characteristic adapted to the gamma 2.2 curve. The liquid crystal display further includes a data driver receiving the image data from the signal controller and selecting and outputting gray voltages corresponding to the image data, and an inverter controlling a lamp such that the lamp emits light with a luminance of 80 cd/m2 or more. With the liquid crystal display, the luminance of a backlight is determined to be a specific value larger than 80 cd/m2, and the luminance of the input image data is controlled such that the luminance of the image data at the specific data value is established to be 80 cd/m2. Furthermore, the gamma characteristic of the image data RGB is converted to be adapted to the gamma 2.2 curve required for the sRGB color space. In this way, the sRGB mode is realized with the liquid crystal display.

    • The present invention relates to a digital data transceiver circuit applicable to a flat panel display such as an LCD to be placed between graphic signal generation module and liquid crystal display module or between timing control IC and data driver IC, etc. A digital data transceiver circuit of the present invention has a first current source and a second current source, and the second current source is controlled to supply a current or not depending on the status of the lower bit of input data. A transmitter is connected to a node, on which the first and second current sources combine, and the transmission paths of currents from the two current sources are determined depending on the status of the upper bit of input data. A signal of the transmitter is transmitted through a transmission line, and a termination resistor is connected to the transmission line. A receiver detects output data according to a voltage applied to the termination resistor. The digital data transceiver circuit of the present invention can transmit 2-bit or 3-bit data during one clock period, and it is resistible to the noise better than the voltage transmission method and effective to long distance transmission.

    • An LCD for improving dynamic contrast by adjusting gamma voltages according to the brightness of an image is provided. The LCD includes: a liquid crystal display panel assembly having a plurality of pixels provided on crossing areas of a plurality of gate lines and a plurality of data lines; a gate driver applying voltage signals for sequentially scanning the gate lines; a source driver applying voltage signals for image display to the data lines; a timing controller providing image data and a control signal for the source driver, providing a gate line on/off control signal for the gate driver, and outputting digital gamma data to a digital/analogue (D/A) converter; and the D/A converter connected to the timing controller for converting the digital gamma data from the timing controller into analog signals to generate a plurality of gamma voltages and outputting the gamma voltages to the source driver. The LCD generates the gamma voltages by the D/A converter in place of using serially-connected resistors, and thus, the gamma voltages may vary depending on the brightness of the image.
