    • A servo writer according to the present invention is a servo writer which writes a servo signal on a servo band of a magnetic tape. It comprises a magnetic tape driving system in which a magnetic tape supplied from a supply reel is taken up by a take-up reel to drive the magnetic tape; a DC erasing head which is slidably in contact with said driving tape and which DC-magnetizes said servo band with imparting an azimuth relative to said servo band; and a servo signal writing head provided on a downstream of said DC erasing head in the driving direction of the magnetic tape, which is slidably in contact with said driving tape and which magnetizes the servo band by a magnetizing force having a component with a reverse magnetizing force relative to the magnetizing force of the DC erasing head in the lengthwise direction of the magnetic tape.

    • The servo signal recording device records a servo signal onto a magnetic tape. The device includes a transporting unit for transporting the magnetic tape along its lengthwise direction, a recording unit for recording the servo signal onto the transported magnetic tape, a detecting unit for detecting an edge of the magnetic tape at a time when the servo signal is recorded and an adjusting unit for adjusting a recording position of the servo signal along a crosswise direction of the magnetic tape in accordance with a detection result of the edge of the magnetic tape by the detecting unit. The servo signal verifying device verifies a servo signal recorded onto a magnetic tape. The device includes a reproducing unit for reproducing the servo signal, a detecting unit for detecting an edge of the magnetic tape at a time when the reproducing unit reproduces the servo signal and a calculating unit for calculating a verification result of the servo signal recorded onto the magnetic tape using a reproduction result of the servo signal and a detection result of the edge.

    • The motor actuator includes a driving motor, and a motor gear formed on a rotary shaft of the driving motor. The motor actuator further includes an input gear which meshes with the motor gear, and a planet gear revolving around a rotation axis of the input gear when the input gear is rotated. It further includes a stationary gear which is fixed in a coaxial relation with the input gear, and meshes with the planet gear. It further includes an output gear which is disposed rotatably in a coaxial relation with the input gear, has an output shaft and teeth whose number is different from that of the stationary gear, and meshes with the planet gear. With this configuration, the motor actuator is preferably small and reliable, and provides preferable output characteristics in torque and rotational speed.

    • A servo track formed on a tape-like recording medium is verified. An input unit allows a user to input information. A tape drive unit causes the tape-like recording medium to run on a predetermined route. A measurement unit is provided adjacent to the predetermined route of the tape-like recording medium and configured to detect the servo track on the running tape-like recording medium driven by the tape drive unit, to output a track detection signal. A storage unit stores a plurality of functions each of which is uniquely determinable by the information to be provided through the input unit. An arithmetic unit is configured to determine an oscillation amount of the servo track from the track detection signal output from the measurement unit, using a function determined on the basis of the information provided through the input unit. The function used for determining the oscillation amount of the servo track is retrievable from among the plurality of functions stored in the storage unit.
