Another connector housing includes an engagement protrusion which is to be engaged in the through-hole to push the protrusion, thereby warping the first spring portion in an anti-forcing direction to be brought into contact with the pair of detection terminals. Thus, connector fitting of one and another connector housings can be surely detected electrically. The fitting detection connector can have a buffer spring member which is arranged between the contact portion and intrusion protrusion of the first spring portion.

    • A connector with a terminal retainer in which when a metal terminal is to be detached by moving a flexible deformable plate of a terminal retainer, excessive deflection of the flexible deformable plate is prevented. A terminal retainer is connected to a connector housing in a two-stage manner, that is, first in a provisionally-connected condition and then in a completely-connected condition. In the provisionally-connected condition, a flexible deformable plate of the terminal retainer rests on push-up projections to enable the insertion of a metal terminal. In this condition, when the flexible deformable plate is to be deflected outwardly, the flexible deformable plate abuts against an excessive deflection-preventing portion, and is prevented from being damaged.

    • An improved electrical connector is described herein. The electrical connector includes a male connector member and a female connector member to be fitted to the male connector member. The male connector member includes an intermediate connector section and a joint connector section both having a plurality of electrical terminals therein. The female connector member also includes an intermediate connector section having a plurality of electrical terminals therein and a joint connector section having no electrical terminals therein, in which the electrical terminals in the intermediate connector section of the female connector member are adapted to be connected to the terminals in the intermediate connector section of the male connector member to establish electrical connection between these terminals when the male and female connector members are fitted together. The electrical connector further includes a joint member for establishing electrical connection among at least two of the terminals in the second section of the first connector member. The joint member is adapted to be removably fitted to the at least two electrical terminals of the second section of the first connector member and to achieve electrical connection therebetween through the connecting member when the joint member is fitted thereto.

    • A wire pressing method and apparatus for a pressure terminal using a pressing punch to connect a wire to pressing blades of the pressure terminal. The pressing punch has a pressing section for press-fitting the wire and is vertically movable. A pair of walls extending in a pressing direction are arranged on both sides of the pressing section, and the pressing blades of the pressure terminal are located between the walls at the time of a pressing operation. In this manner the wire is press-fitted into the pressing blades by the pressing section while both the walls are prevented by the pressing blades from expanding outwardly. The wire pressing method and apparatus can also be used to connect a wire to pressing blades of the pressure terminal when the terminal is received in a connector housing. This is done by retaining the side walls of the terminal receiving chamber such that the side walls will not expand outwardly during the pressing operation.
