    • A multi-beam scanning device is provided with a light source that emits a plurality of light beams, a polygonal mirror that deflects the light beams to scan, and an optical system that converges the deflected light beams on a plurality of objects to be scanned. The objects are arranged on a side, with respect to the polygonal mirror, in which the light beams scan, from a position closer to the polygonal mirror to a position farther from the polygonal mirror in order. The optical system further includes a plurality of optical path turning systems that turn optical paths of the deflected light beams, respectively. Each of the optical path turning systems includes a plurality of reflection surfaces, the numbers of the reflection surfaces of the optical path turning systems are all even, or odd.

    • An image magnification control mechanism for a facsimile zoom lens is provided in which a position detecting section is directly coupled to a drive member for moving the optical system of the zoom lens. The positions of the lens groups are controlled by a servo mechanism controlled by a pulse signal from the detecting section which also controls the speed of the zoom lens. An address instruction detecting section is used to achieve the positioning operation quickly and accurately. In the preferred embodiment, the invention is comprised of a stationary detection slit and a rotary member having only a finite number of slits corresponding to different magnification ratios. Speed control slits are provided on either side of either the stationary or movable slits to provide signals for stepwise increasing or decreasing the zooming speed. Address slits and corresponding detectors are provided for determining which of the magnification ratios is presently being used.

    • A manual control apparatus is provided on the zoom lens barrel for an auto focus type camera to allow manual focusing and zooming control. A zoom lens group and a focusing lens group are provided inside the lens barrel in such a manner that each of the lens groups can be independently moved back and forth along the optical axis thereof, and further a zooming mechanism and a focusing mechanism are respectively provided to move the zoom lens group and the focusing lens group back and forth along the optical axis. By changing over the manual control apparatus, the zoom lens group and the focusing lens group can be selectively moved back and forth one group at a time.
