摘要： A slide type miter saw capable of easily switching operation mode between groove forming mode and ordinary cutting mode without generation of fluffs and cracks at an upper surface of a workpiece. A circular-saw unit supporting a circular saw blade has a first stopper bolt abuttable on a stopper receiver on a support unit for determining the lowermost position of the circular saw blade. The circular-saw unit also has a second stopper bolt for forming a groove of a desired depth in the workpiece. The second stopper bolt is movable with respect to the first stopper bolt. The stopper receives supports a pivot member or a plate. The pivot member or the plate is abuttable on the second stopper bolt in accordance with a moved position of the second stopper bolt for regulating a depth of a groove.

A saw blade section accommodates a motor and rotatalby supports a circular saw blade driven by the motor. The cutter blade portion supports a moving blade. The cutter blade portion is supported on the holder movable between an upper position and a lower position. The cutter blade portion is moved into the lower position to cut a workpiece supported on the base using the moving blade. The laser generator is attached to the holder or the cutter blade portion in an orientation to direct at least a portion of the laser light onto a position on the workpiece that is directly beneath the cutter blade portion when the cutter blade portion is in the upper position. Alternatively, a holder has a shaft support portion, and a slide shaft is axially slidably supported by the shaft support portion. A front end of the slide shaft has a hinge holder which pivotally supports the cutting blade portion. A laser generator is fixed to a front side of the hinge holder.

A virtual plane including the axes of the pair of pipes is substantially parallel to the pivotal direction of a disc saw blade. A first screw is screwed in the first slide support part. An end part of the first screw contacts and presses a pipe. This end part is engaged with the pipe so as to restrict slide of the pipe relative to the first slide support part.

The holder is laterally pivotally movable about a holder shaft to change angle of a side surface of a circular saw blade relative to an upper surface of a base. The holder fixing mechanism includes a clamp bolt whose axis is directed perpendicular to the holder shaft and in parallel with the side surface of the circular saw blade. By the rotation of the clamp bolt about its axis, a fixing relationship between the holder and the base section is established.
