A bend-aligned mode liquid crystal cell is properly optically compensated for by properly controlling the optical properties, including wavelength dispersion, of a first optical anisotropic layer and a second optical anisotropic layer.

The process comprises a forming step of forming a web of a fluid, comprising a cellulose acylate, aromatic group-containing oligomer and solvent, by casting the fluid onto a support, a stretching step of stretching the web, thereby to align molecules of the aromatic group-containing oligomer along the stretching direction, and a heat-treatment step of subjecting the stretched web to a heat treatment, thereby to at least increase the alignment degree of molecules of the aromatic group-containing oligomer.

When manufacturing the high voltage MOS transistor, a portion of a gate insulation film is removed to form an opening that exposes an outside area of the active area, which is outside of the central area where a gate electrode will be formed.
