    • A subsurface safety valve has a tubular valve housing, a valve closure member movable between an open and a closed position, an axially shiftable flow tube for opening the valve closure member, a spring for biasing the flow tube to a closed position, a piston and cylinder assembly to move the flow tube to an open position, and a plug inserted within an opening in the valve housing. This opening is in fluid communication with the piston and cylinder assembly. The plug is adapted to be displaced from the opening to lock out the safety valve, and to establish secondary hydraulic fluid communication with an interior of the safety valve in order to operate secondary tools, such as wireline set secondary valves, inserted into the locked out safety valve.

    • A jar for use in facilitating the removal of stuck objects from wells. The jar has a telescoping assembly held in a collapsed position by a latching means urged into latching position by a resilient means so that the hammer of the jar is spaced from the anvil thereof. The release of the latching means is actuated by a predetermined longitudinal force applied to the upper end of the jar which overcomes the resilient means to cause the hammer to strike the anvil with a sudden impact translated by a connecting means from the jar to the stuck object.

    • An injection valve for use in a well having a valve closure element positioned below a valve seat moving between an open position to a closed position on the valve seat for blocking off upward flow through the bore, but allowing downward flow. A flow tube is telescopically movable in the housing for controlling the movement of the valve closure member and a piston is movable in the housing and connected to the flow tube and exposed to fluid in the bore. An upwardly facing shoulder on the flow tube receives a retrievable orifice member for providing a force for fully opening the valve when fluid is injected downwardly through the bore. A retrievable lockout sleeve is provided to lock the valve open when the retrievable orifice is removed.

    • A pumpdown well completion system for pumpdown well servicing of remotely located wells such as subsea wells including particularly a parking tool and a parking tool landing nipple for a pumpdown flowline to permit pumping a tool train to the landing nipple using a large size piston unit and thereafter pumping a section of the tool train beyond the landing nipple using small size piston units. The parking tool includes a central mandrel having a coupling collet telescopically engaged in a housing having a parking collet. The mandrel is telescopically engaged in the housing for movement between a first traveling position at which the coupling collet connects a large size section of a tool train with a small size section and a second release position at which the small size tool train section is released from the parking tool. The housing includes a parking collet operated by movement of the coupling collet for releasably locking the parking tool in the landing nipple when the coupling collet moves to a release position. The landing nipple is a dual wall flow conductor having an inner parking tube including a stop shoulder and a locking recess and fluid bypass ports longitudinally spaced on either side of the parking position of the parking tool and an outer housing defining an annular bypass flow passage between the ports.

    • A combination well flow control device having a passage therethrough for conducting fluids from the exterior to the interior of the tubing, this device having pressure responsive valve means therein for controlling flow of fluids such as well treating chemicals through the flow passage at very low rates and also having a bypass passage which is initially closed by a sleeve valve but which is openable to permit high injection rates therethrough as for injecting water or the like fluid into the tubing at a very high rate as for killing the well. When the sleeve valve has been moved to bypass opening position, the valve flow passage is short-circuited through the bypass, and in one embodiment that portion upstream of the sleeve valve is shut off. After the sleeve valve has been moved to open position, it will remain at that position. The device also includes a check valve for preventing backflow therethrough regardless of whether the bypass is open or closed.
