    • In a system comprising a first subsystem having a first plurality of nodes connected through an interconnect providing unreliably delivery (URD) of packets and a second subsystem having a second plurality of nodes connected through a packet-based interconnect offering reliable delivery of packets, a method of communicating comprising the step of transporting in both the first and second subsystem, a common packet format. The URD and packet interconnects conform with a standard. The standard is Serial RapidIO. The first subsystem places a Serial RapidIO idle sequence after each packet. The first subsystem places the Serial RapidIO idle sequence after a Multicast Event Control Symbol (MECS).

    • The present invention concerns a water-based drilling mud for utilization in the drilling of oil wells comprising an aqueous phase wherein the aqueous phase contains an oil soluble polymer in the form of a gel as a fluid loss reducer. The subject invention further reveals a process for preparing an oil soluble polymer fluid loss control agent comprising the steps of dissolving at least one polymer in a hydrocarbon oil to form a clear solution or a gel, adding an emulsifier to the solution or the gel, and keeping the mixture under conditions of agitation until a clear creamy mixture is obtained; wherein said oil soluble polymer fluid loss control agent contains up to 50 percent water based on the weight of the control agent; wherein the emulsifier is present at a level which is within the range of 3 percent to 30 percent based upon the weight of the control agent; and wherein the polymer is prepared from monomers selected from the group consisting of styrene, substituted styrene, alkyl acrylate, substituted alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate, substituted alkyl methacrylate, acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile, acrylamide, methacrylamide, N-alkylacrylamide, N-alkylmethacrylamide, isoprene, butadiene, ethylene, vinyl acetate, and vinyl esters of versatic acids containing from 9 to 19 carbon atoms.

    • A packet switching system comprises a first switch and a second switch. The first switch includes a first receive port, a first plurality of transmit ports, a first switch fabric, a first reference clock signal input and a first multicast control symbol input/output port coupled to the first plurality of transmit ports for inputting a multicast control signal to be transmitted. The second switch includes a second receive port, a second plurality of transmit ports a second switch fabric, a second reference clock signal input and a second multicast control symbol input/output port coupled to the second receive port for outputting a received multicast control symbol. In operation, a multicast control symbol is generated in hardware synchronized with a reference clock signal and the multicast control symbol directly to the first plurality of transmit ports.
