    • A shaped charge engine includes an annular blast-forming chamber formed by joining inner and outer housings. A central through hole in the inner housing allows exhaust gases to exit. The outer housing comprises a generally round disk with an inner conical concave depression and through holes for the insertion of fuel and ignition. The blast chamber is preferably taper-conical in shape, wider at the base, and gradually decreasing in cross-sectional area as it rises to the apex. This construction forms a circular pinch point or throat toward the apex that produces a primary or first stage compression area. A secondary compression zone is created at the apex of the outer housing, just beyond the throat, producing hypersonic gases as generally opposing exhaust streams collide and are forced to exit the through hole in the inner housing. The shaped charge engine may be used in a variety of applications, including as a pulsed direct propulsion device, as a turbine driver, or in a wide array of tools and appliances.

    • A fluid filtering stop valve having a body with a cylindrical chamber having a circumferential sidewall with inlet, outlet and flush ports, and a cylindrical plug member rotatably disposed in the chamber. The plug member is rotatably between a filtering position in which the screen is located in the fluid flow between the inlet and outlet ports, a backflushing position in which the screen is located in the fluid flow between the inlet and flush ports, with the filtering side of the screen toward the flush port, and a closed position in which an arcuate plate washer loosely retained between the first and second plates is positioned to seal the flush and outlet ports. In the filtering position the washer seals only the flush port and in the flush position the washer seals only the outlet port. The screen uses outwardly diverging ribs to reduce lodging of material between the ribs. A second screen filters the fluid from the inlet port during backflushing.

    • Apparatus for cutting a smooth concentric hole in a metal workpiece. The apparatus fits in a standard industrial drill chuck and has a pilot drill and tap at one end which drills and taps a pilot hole seating a mandrel on the metal workpiece. When the mandrel is seated, a cam plate and spring arrangement automatically advances the cutting teeth and provides the proper pressure on the cuttering teeth to cut the hole. The cutting teeth have a special anti-breakthrough portion which provides controlled drilling of a smooth hole. A clutch is provided which controls the torque delivered to the apparatus and allows the cam plate to function properly. The device may be adapted easily to accommodate various hole sizes by changing its faceplate.
