    • A database system combines a general ledger and a multi-dimensional database. The general ledger and multi-dimensional database are mapped such that relationships between the general ledger and multi-dimensional database are characterized with metadata dimensions. Using the mapping, data can be received into the general ledger and stored in both the general ledger and multi-dimensional database substantially simultaneously. Further, a synchronization of the data copies changes to the data automatically from the general ledger to the multi-dimensional database. Thus, there is no manual copying of data between the general ledger and the database. Further, the latency between the general ledger and database is minimal ensuring accurate analysis even contemporaneous with the input of the data.

    • A method of detecting variances in a plurality of accounts from different organizations within an Enterprise Financial Accounting system includes receiving a selection of a first account with an account type; receiving a selection of a first time interval and a second time interval; determining a first amount that is associated with the first account during the first time interval; determining a second amount that is associated with the first account during the second time interval; receiving a selection of a comparison operator that relates the first amount to the second amount; receiving a selection of a threshold; determining a comparison value by comparing the first amount to the second amount according to the comparison operator; determining that the comparison value violates the threshold according to the comparison operator; and displaying a first indication in a portal comprised of the first amount, the second amount, and the comparison value.

    • A method of concurrently assessing a closure status for multiple ledgers may comprise accessing a general ledger and a plurality of subledgers including a first subledger and a second subledger, having first and second close periods, respectively. The method may also include translating the second subledger such that the second subledger has the first close period, and determining a closure status for each subledger over the first period. The method may additionally include determining a status for the general ledger indicating a closure status over the first period, and concurrently displaying an indication for each of the plurality of subledgers and the general ledger. The method may further include displaying the status of each of the plurality of subledgers next to the indication for each, and displaying the status of the general ledger next to the indication for the general ledger.
