    • A bimorph using ultraviolet setting glue to laminate a piezoelectric film structure, having etched-back metalization patterns on the surfaces of the piezoelectric film. The bimorph is used in a bimorph light modulator including a substrate on which fiber optic input and output light guides are mounted. A gap between the light guides serve as an optical coupling. A bimorph is affixed to the substrate with a shutter attached to one end thereof and positioned within the gap for blocking the light coupling when the bimorph is in the unenergized state. When the bimorph is energized, it pulls the shutter out of the gap, thereby allowing light coupling. Top and bottom stops are used to limit the bimorph movement to damp resonant vibrations and improve on and off times. Viscous air damping is used to eliminate or minimize bounce of the top and bottom stops and to help damp resonant vibration. An array of the bimorphs may be utilized for providing a video or other display, with electrode connections being made to the bimorphs by means of conductors which contact the bimorph electrodes at small surface areas, with the conductors being attached to circuit boards carrying signals for operating the bimorph array. The optical fibers may be coupled to different light sources and filters to provide color images, and groups of optical fibers may be arranged to form pixels for providing a broad range of intensities.

    • A synchronizing signal generator includes a tape recorder which is adapted to record click signals in response to actuations of a manual switch. Counting clock signals go on while the click recorded signals are reproduced, especially during a length of time extending from receipt of a particular one of the click signals to receipt of the next succeeding click signal. The resultant count is divided by a given numeral value and then the quotient is stored. The clock signals developing between the respective click signals are further counted during the course of reproduction of the click signals from the tape recorder and a pulse signal is delivered whenever the instantaneous count coincides with the stored quotient. Tempo clock signals are obtained through the division of the pulse signal at a selected division ratio out of a plurality of division ratios. The tempo clock signals are fed to a sequencer which in turn generates a control voltage and gate signals synchronous with the tempo clock signals. A music synthesizer produces tone signals in synchronism with said tempo clock signals in response to the control voltage and the gate signals.

    • A sound generator consists of a housing defining open first and second ends and an internal passage extending therebetween. A speaker is positioned within the housing, and a control arrangement including a circuit board is interconnected with the speaker. The circuit board is preferably located within the internal cavity, and a manually actuable switching arrangement is accessible from the exterior of the housing and interconnected with the circuit board for controlling the output therefrom to the speaker to control the sound generated by the speaker. In one form, the switches are accessible via a control portion formed on a wall of the housing, and in another form the switches are accessible through a movable shield member or sleeve mounted to the housing having an opening providing access to certain of the switches. Grills are positioned within the open ends of the housing, to enable sound waves to escape from both sides of the speaker, with the internal passage having a length ensuring that the emanating sound waves do not cancel each other.
