    • An improved surface seeded exposed aggregate concrete and method of use is disclosed characterized by use of small, rounded aggregate, preferably sand, being broadcast over the upper surface of the concrete. The broadcast aggregate is mixed into the cement paste derived from the concrete matrix by magnesium hand floats and finished by hand sponging. A surface retarder and vapor barrier is than applied to cover the concrete surface for approximately four to twenty four hours. Subsequently, any surface film is washed from the surface of the concrete and the concrete is cured by fogging or soaker hose. Approximately thirty days later, the surface residue is removed from the concrete with a stem/acid wash providing an exposed aggregate concrete having extreme flatness and high wear resistance suitable for high traffic areas and improved asthetics resembling stone, granite or marble.

    • Slip and non-slip dowel placement sleeves are disclosed. The slip dowel placement sleeve generally comprises a tubular dowel receiving sheath having a closed distal end and open proximal end. A connecting means is formed around or inserted into the proximal opening of the sheath to facilitate attachment of the sheath to a concrete form. Smooth sections of dowel rod may then be advanced through holes drilled in the concrete form and into the interior compartment of the sheath. Concrete is poured within the form and the dowel rod remains slidably disposed within the interior of the sheath. Variations of the basic slip dowel placement sleeve of the invention include a tapered "extractable" sleeve and a corrugated "grout tube" for placement of non-slip dowel or rebar.

    • A surface drainage structure formed above a subgrade may include an elongate drain conduit disposed partially within the subgrade. The elongate drain conduit may define at least one drain slot extending through a wall thereof. The structure may include a pavement layer with an exposed top surface and a drainage channel extending therefrom. The drainage channel may be in fluid communication with the drain slot of the elongate drain conduit. A method of forming the surface drainage structure includes placing the elongate drain conduit in the subgrade, forming the pavement layer, cutting an upper channel along the elongate drain conduit, and cutting a lower channel and the drain slot in the elongate conduit.

    • Disclosed is a disc dowel system interposed between adjacent first and second concrete pours defining a pour joint therebetween. The disc dowel system comprises a positioner bracket, a pocket former and a dowel plate. The positioner bracket has a vertically disposed base flange and a horizontally disposed plate portion extending therefrom. The base flange is rigidly attachable to a concrete form. The pocket former has a horizontally extending interior compartment with an open, generally straight side and an arch-shaped compartment perimeter extending therefrom. The straight side is aligned with the pour joint. The pocket former is positioned within the first pour by the positioner bracket. The dowel plate has a generally rounded shape with an embed portion and a slidable portion. The embed portion is rigidly encapsulated within the second pour and the slidable portion is slidably disposed within the pocket former such that the dowel plate permits relative horizontal movement of the first and second pours while restricting relative vertical movement thereof.

    • A joint assembly for controlling fractures along a fracture axis in a monolithic pour concrete structure is provided. The concrete structure is defined by a first edge form section and a generally opposed second edge form section. The joint assembly is characterized by a suspension line extending between the first edge form section and the second edge form section, and a fracture inducing sheath suspended therefrom within the concrete structure. The sheath may define an elongate slit that exposes an internal channel that the suspension line traverses. Additionally, a method for forming a control joint in a monolithic pour concrete structure via the joint assembly is provided.

    • A surface seeded exposed particulate concrete method of use includes use of small particulates, the particulates not necessarily chemically inert in the concrete mixture. The particulates are broadcast over the upper surface of the concrete, and mixed into the cement paste derived from the concrete matrix by floats and finished by hand sponging. A surface retarder and vapor barrier are applied, and washing and curing operations follow. The present invention adds a chemical treatment of hydrolyzed alkali silica solution, preferably lithium quartz, penetrating the upper surface of the concrete mixture with minerals and silicates within the concrete mix. The resultant exposed particulate concrete has extreme flatness and high wear resistance suitable for high-traffic flooring applications, aesthetics resembling terrazzo or ceramic tile at a fraction of the price, and the strength and resistance to corrosion expected of concrete surfaces.
