    • An electrical connector system may include a plurality of wafer assemblies. Each wafer assembly may include a first overmolded array of electrical contacts defining a plurality of apertures; a second overmolded array of electrical contacts configured to be assembled with the first overmolded array of electrical contacts, the second overmolded array of electrical contacts defining a plurality of apertures; and a conductive ground bracket positioned in the wafer assembly between the first overmolded array of electrical contacts and the second array of electrical contacts. The conductive ground bracket defines a first array of ridges, each ridge of the first array of ridges positioned in an aperture of the first overmolded array of electrical contacts. The conductive ground bracket defines a second array of ridges, each ridge of the second array of ridges positioned in an aperture of the second overmolded array of electrical contacts.

    • An electrical connector system for mounting to a substrate is disclosed. The electrical connector system may include a plurality of wafer assemblies defining a mating end and a mating end. Each wafer assembly may include a first overmolded array of electrical contacts, each electrical contact defining an electrical mating connector extending past an edge of the overmold of the first overmolded array of electrical contacts at the mating end of the wafer assembly; a first ground shield configured to be assembled with the first overmolded array of electrical contacts; and a second overmolded array of electrical contacts configured to be assembled with the first overmolded array of electrical contacts, each electrical contact defining an electrical mating connector extending past an edge of the overmold of the second overmolded array of electrical contacts at the mating end of the wafer assembly.

    • An electrical terminal (20) including a body (22) having first and second connecting portions (30, 50). The first connecting portion (30) includes two beams defining a terminal-receiving slot (44) therebetween. Each beam (32) has a primary contact surface (38) and at least one beam includes a secondary contact surface (40) extending orthogonally into the terminal-receiving slot (44). The primary and secondary contact surfaces on the one beam are spaced both vertically and horizontally from each other. Upon mating a pin terminal (70) to electrical terminal (20) the secondary contact surface (40) engages the pin terminal (70) at a first location (74) thereon defining an electrical arc- arresting region. Upon further insertion the pin terminal (70) engages the primary contact surfaces (38) at second locations (76) thereon spaced at least horizontally from the first locations (74).

    • The invention is directed to an electrical connector assembly with a plug housing having a contact receiving cavity with a forward mating end. A first contact has a forward seal thereon. The forward seal has two sealing portions. A first sealing portion engages the contact receiving cavity and forms a seal therewith, the second portion extends into the forward mating end, there is a space between the second portion and the housing. A receptacle housing has a contact receiving cavity and a forward. The forward end of the receptacle housing is received within the forward mating end of the plug housing in the space between the second portion of the forward seal and the plug housing. The second portion of the seal engages the forward end of the receptacle housing to form a seal therewith.
