    • A three or four-terminal electronic control circuit utilizes a thyristor and a transistor connected in their regenerative circuit or, alternatively, three transistors interconnected in a regenerative circuit. The thyristor is connected to operate in a remote base mode as a low gain PNP transistor, together with a bipolar NPN transistor. The thyristor and transistor are connected in a regenerative circuit which results in very high gain, low input current, with low cost and complete control for ON and OFF, and even intermediate range conditions due to direct access to the base of the NPN transistor. A switch may be connected to the base of the NPN transistor to control the current thereinto, and when current flows into this base, then the transistor and thyristor are connected toward regenerative conduction. When the base current is terminated by the switch, then the circuit degenerates toward non-conduction. By maintaining the potential of the control terminal at a constant voltage, then the regenerative and degenerative modes may be held in balance and a linear mode of operation may be obtained, e.g., in a voltage regulator circuit.     • A proximity sensor includes a transducer and a circuit having a switch that changes state in response to a presence of an object in spaced relation to the transducer. The transducer includes a magnetic form defining a generally planar surface facing a sensing zone of the sensor. The magnetic form includes a side surface that extends away from the sensing zone and an internal cavity that opens outwardly toward the sensing zone. A sensing coil is positioned within the magnetic form cavity. The transducer additionally includes a sensor housing supporting the sensing coil and the magnetic form in relation to the sensing zone. A non-ferrous metal shield is positioned inside the sensor housing to surround at least a portion of the magnetic form and enhance a sensing range of the proximity sensor. The shield has an edge that faces the sensing zone located substantially co-incident with the generally planar surface of the magnetic form.

    • The present invention is a device for holding a fastener for fastening or unfastening of said fastener. It includes an elongated member having a central portion, the central portion being a handle, and having a first and second end. The elongated member has a central axis. The first end of the elongated member has a first pair of gripping fingers substantially parallel with the central axis, and the second end has a second pair of gripping fingers substantially non-parallel with the central axis. The first pair of gripping fingers and the second pair of gripping fingers each have opposing fingers with non-straight inside opposing surfaces, and include a biasing spring that biases each gripping finger of each pair of gripping fingers toward one another. The first pair of gripping fingers and the second pair of gripping fingers are adapted to removably retain a fastener.

    • A device is provided for a meter having an indicator, e.g. a pointer, and which detects the presence or absence of the meter pointer at one or more set points or between two set points. The device does not alter the operation of the meter and may be coupled to an alarm or other signal, or it may be used to actuate a mechanism under control of the meter. The device comprises at least one light-emitting diode which produces radiation which falls on a specific area of the meter face and on the meter pointer (if it is within that area) and is reflected from the meter face (and the pointer) to a phototransistor or other suitable receiver which "reads" the signal produced by the radiation reflected from the meter face and the pointer, if present in the area read. The device is mounted so that it can be moved to any desired area of the meter face. Preferably the device is mounted externally to the meter. However, it may be enclosed within the usual meter housing, without altering the operation of the meter.
