摘要： A terminal position assurance system is provided for an electrical connector which includes a dielectric housing having a terminal-receiving passage into which a terminal is inserted in an insertion direction to a fully inserted position. A latch surface is formed in the housing adjacent the passage and facing in the insertion direction. A bendable tab is provided on the terminal and is adapted to be bent against the latch surface. The bendable tab is structured to be bent about an axis generally parallel to the insertion direction to move an edge portion of the tab to a position over the latch surface when the terminal is in its fully inserted position.

Laser directed structuring is used to form patterns of conductive traces on the surfaces of the connector body and raised ribs are formed along the traces and interposed between them to form channels that encompass at least portions of the traces. The raised ribs increase the time in which plating solution can dwell over the laser excited areas and also form abrasion barriers to prevent abrasion for the conductive traces during the plating thereof.

At least one terminal is mounted on the housing and has a contact portion spaced outwardly of the wall for flexing toward and away from the wall generally perpendicular to the mating face. The contact portion has a first end anchored at one end of the wall and a second end engageable with the opposite end of the wall and slidable relative thereto generally parallel to the mating face.

A conductive shielding shell receives the subassembly with the conductive shell being in engagement with the coaxial cable carrier. A cover is mounted on the shell for holding the conductor of the cable in engagement with the signal terminal of the terminal module.
