摘要： A system for generating direct offers includes a computer system adapted to generate a group of offers, a list of targeted recipients that may be potential customers, and a set of business rules for selecting appropriate ones of the offers based at least in part on certain personal recipient information. The system also includes a third party computer system and a database that stores in confidence personal information for each of the targeted recipients. The third party computer system is adapted to receive the offers, the list of targeted recipients, and the set of business rules, select an appropriate one of the offers, if any, for each targeted recipient according to the business rules based at least in part on the personal information of the targeted recipients, and construct and cause to be sent a final offer for each of the targeted recipients for which an offer has been selected.

摘要： A method and system is provided for confirming and/or verifying receipt of a mailpiece by an intended mail recipient. The method includes the step of establishing a relationship between the intended mail recipient and an RFID tag affixed to the mailpiece. Upon delivery of the mailpiece, the actual mail recipient is caused to affect communication between an RFID enabled phone in the possession of the actual mail recipient and the RFID tag of the mailpiece. By comparing the information acquired by the RFID enabled phone and the RFID tag, (i.e., the relationship information stored on the RFID tag), a determination can be made as to whether the intended mail recipient is the actual mail recipient. Alternate embodiments of the invention effect confirmation/verification by capturing various biometric characteristics of the mail recipient and comparing such information to previously stored biometric data of the intended mail recipient.

Based on the identification of the postage meter or other unique information, the recipient's mail processing system can obtain an identification of the mailer. Once the identification of the mailer is ascertained based on this information, the recipient can utilize one or more business rules for internal delivery of the mail piece.

A mail processing system is utilized by recipients of mail pieces to scan each incoming mail piece. The mail processing system extracts information from the mail piece that indicates the origin location of the mail piece as well as the date the mail piece was sent. The mail processing system establishes a record of the time-for-delivery between the origin location for each mail piece and the destination location. A data center aggregates the records from a plurality of different mail processing systems to establish a database that includes an actual value of time-for-delivery based on specific origin and destination locations. Mailers can then obtain information from the data center concerning actual time-for-delivery statistics based on the specific origin and destination of a mail piece.
