    • An accumulating unit accumulates image data of an original read by a reading unit. A combining unit combines the image data accumulated in the accumulating unit in a single printing sheet according to a predetermined copy mode. An output unit prints and outputs the image data according to the copy mode. An input unit receives an input of a read instruction. When a total number of originals read by the reading unit is smaller than a total number of originals specified in the copy mode and when the input unit does not receive an input of the read instruction within a predetermined time, a discard determining unit discards the image data accumulated in the accumulating unit, and finishes a printing process.

    • An image forming apparatus is disclosed. The image forming apparatus comprises an input unit through which a condition for reading image data of a document is input, a reading unit to read the image data under the reading condition, a first storage unit to store the image data read by the reading unit, a second storage unit to store information indicative of a relationship between the reading condition and an estimated volume of the image data to be stored in the first storage unit, a data volume estimating unit that estimates a volume of the image data to be read based on the reading condition and the information stored in the second storage unit, and a determining unit to determine whether to read the image data based on the estimated data volume and a volume of the image data that have already been stored in the first storage unit.

    • In an image processing apparatus, a power control part shuts down power supply after a power shutdown condition is established. A prescript safe state transition part performs a prescript safe state transition process to shift previously set prescript parts to a predetermined safe state. A priority safe state transition part performs a priority safe state transition process to shift previously set priority parts to the safe state. A transition process control part causes the prescript safe state transition process to be executed before execution of the priority safe transition process, and causes the priority safe state transition process to be executed when a predetermined transition change condition is established in the prescript safe state transition process. The power control part shuts down the power supply after the completion of the prescript safe state transition process.
