摘要： Agglomerated particles of finely divided fabric softening bentonite and sodium sulfate particles have been found to possess improved fabric softening properties, compared to agglomerated bentonite, especially when employed in the hand washing of laundry which is subsequently line dried. Such agglomerates are also of excellent particle strength and are readily dispersible in water. The described product may be made by agglomerating finely divided bentonite and sodium sulfate powders with the aid of excess moisture, after which the agglomerated particles resulting are dried and those of desired size, preferably in the No's. 30 to 100 sieve size range (U.S.), are obtained. The fabric softening agglomerate made may be mixed with spray dried synthetic organic anionic detergent composition beads of about the same or lower bulk density, preferably in the 0.3 to 0.5 g./cc. range, with about 5 to 30% of the agglomerate particles being present, to make a non-segregating fabric softening particulate detergent composition of improved softening properties. Detergency, soil anti-redeposition properties, bead physical characteristics and processing are improved by the presence in the detergent composition of a minor proportion of a water soluble copolymer of maleic and acrylic acids which, unlike other polymers which can impart such properties to detergent compositions, does not adversely affect the softening of hand washed laundry by the present agglomerate. Soda ash may be used in place of some or all of the sodium sulfate of the agglomerate and a good softening additive will also be obtained.

摘要： Detergent laundry bars of acceptable mildness, detergency, foaming properties, processing characteristics and resistance to breakage are described which are based on built water soluble salts of alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid-lower alcohol ester detergent and/or alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid-amide, and which contain bentonite, which acts as a bodying agent for the laundry bars, facilitating production thereof, and contributing fabric softening properties to laundry washed with such laundry bars. When the bentonite is omitted or is replaced by water insoluble filler, such as calcium carbonate powder, and the alpha-sulfo-fatty acid derivative detergent is employed as an aqueous solution, bars made are not of acceptable hardness and such compositions are not satisfactorily processable in conventional soapmaking apparatuses.Also described are processes for converting aqueous solutions of alpha-sulfo-fatty acid derivative detergent to solid form by treatment with bentonite, and for making detergent laundry bars from such solidified detergent.

摘要： A fabric softening heavy duty liquid detergent, useful for both cleaning and softening laundry, includes certain proportions of sodium linear higher alkylbenzene sulfonate, sodium alkyl polyethoxy sulfate, builder salt (highly preferably a mixture of sodium tripolyphosphate and sodium carbonate), finely divided swelling bentonite and water. Such product is a stable pourable liquid, convenient for use in washing machines, for hand washing of laundry and for pre-treatment of badly soiled portions of items to be laundered. Preferably, the liquid detergent comprises about 9% of sodium linear tridecylbenzene sulfonate, about 2% of sodium alkyl polyethoxy sulfate wherein the alkyl is of 12 to 15 carbon atoms and the polyethoxy is of 3 ethylene oxide groups, 10 to 17% of sodium tripolyphosphate, e.g., 12% and 15%, 2 to 6% of sodium carbonate, e.g., 2% and 6%, about 12% of Wyoming bentonite, and 55 to 65% of water. Also within the invention is a process for manufacturing such liquid detergent wherein the swelling bentonite is admixed with a mixture of the other detergent composition components except for part of the water, which is added last to the mixture of such components and the bentonite.

摘要： A fabric softening and antistatic liquid laundry detergent composition includes synthetic anionic organic detergent, bentonite and higher aliphatic isostearamide antistat in an aqueous medium. The liquid detergent composition preferably contains a builder for the detergent component, such as polyphosphate and/or carbonate. Also within the invention is a process for washing and drying laundry, utilizing the described liquid detergent in the washing operation, whcih produces laundry that is soft and static-free or of low electrostatic charge despite having been subjected to a tumble drying process or similar static charging drying process, which normally causes laundry of similar fabrics to become electrostatically charged, resulting in objectionable "static cling". Also described is a "softstat" product which comprises bentonite fabric softener and N-isostearamide antistat in an aqueous medium, which is intended for addition to liquid detergent compositions or to wash waters to make them fabric softening and antistatic, so that laundry washed with them will be soft to the touch and free of static cling.

摘要： Detergent laundry bars of improved physical characteristics, including improved resistance to breakage on handling, are described which include 10 to 35% of sodium higher fatty alcohol sulfate detergent, 10 to 60% of builder for the detergent mixture, a bodying proportion, in the range of 10 to 60% of water insoluble powder, 1 to 10% of higher fatty lower alkanolamide, 0.2 to 5% of glycerol, with the ratio of alkanolamide to glycerol being in the range of 1:5 to 25:1, and 5 to 20% of water (including that which is removable from any hydrate components when the bar is subjected to heating at 105.degree. C. for two hours). Preferably the invented bars will comprise 10 to 25% of sodium coco alcohol sulfate or equivalent sodium higher fatty alcohol sulfate, up to 5 or 10% of secondary detergents, 15 to 30% of sodium tripolyphosphate, 5 to 25% of sodium carbonate, 0 to 10% of sodium silicate, 10 to 50% of calcium carbonate powder, 3 to 7% of cocomonoethanolamide; 0.3 to 1% of glycerol, with the ratio of cocomonoethanolamide:glycerol being in the range of 2:1 to 25:1, and 5 to 12% of water. The described bars, which preferably are milled and plodded, exhibit better resistance to breakage on handling than do bars of similar formulas which do not contain the ethanolamide and glycerol, which is very surprising. They are also of acceptable hardness and do not slough or erode excessively on standing in contact with water, and in use. The bars process satisfactorily and foam well, too.

摘要： A free flowing particulate fabric softening composition includes base beads, of a water soluble or water insoluble builder for a synthetic organic detergent, impregnated with a fabric softening agent. For example, the base beads may be of a mixture of a zeolite softener (usually a hydrated sodium aluminosilicate), sodium bicarbonate and sodium silicate and the softening agent may be a quaternary ammonium compound, such as distearyl dimethyl ammonium methyl sulfate, with at least 80% and preferably more of the softener being within the original peripheries of the base beads. Also within the invention are softener-detergent compositions which incorporate the described particulate softening composition, a method of using the softening composition in conjunction with a synthetic organic detergent to wash and soften laundry fabrics and a method for the manufacture of the particulate softening compositions.
