摘要： An asphalt paving seam gasket comprises a footing sheet, a seam wall and a ramp extension. Once the footing sheet is anchored to the substrate, the seam wall provides a supporting buttress for the compaction of an initial lane of paving, while the ramp extension provides a sloped access for vehicles to mount the initial lane during the interval before the adjoining lane of paving is applied. Optionally, an adhesive resin is applied to the contact surfaces of the gasket to strengthen their bonding to the asphalt material and prevent moisture penetration between the gasket and the asphalt material.

Segmented padding is supplemented in joint areas by tangentially-stepped articulated shielding, each comprising a hingeably interconnected series of rigid shells. The structure and orientation of the shells deflects impact forces tangentially, while the rotational mobility of the shielding has a force-damping effect. The protective athletic garment has a combination of latticed resilient padding covering vulnerable body areas, such as chest, arms and back, plus articulated, perforated rigid shield panels over joints areas, such as shoulders and elbows. Synergistic dynamic interaction of padding and shielding is achieved by converting impact forces to torques within a series of articulated shield panels and spreading out the forces transmitted to the underlying padding both over area and time.

摘要： A system is provided for inductively charging the battery of an electric vehicle as it travels along a roadway. The system comprises a series of asphalt paving seam gaskets within which are embedded magnetic field generators. The magnetic field generator gaskets are arranged with opposite polarities exposed on either side of each of the charging lanes, so that induction wires within the vehicle transect the magnetic field lines and generate an electric current to charge the vehicle battery. Energy generated and/or distance travelled in the charging lanes can be metered and reported in order to impose user fees.
