    • A connector backshell assembly is provided for strain relief mounting to an electrical cable. The assembly includes a backshell having forward and rearward ends and an axially extending cable-receiving aperture therethrough. A toroidally configured, radially compressible strain relief coil spring surrounds the cable and is disposed near the rearward end of the backshell. A compression nut is engageable with the backshell for selective rotational and axial movement relative thereto. The compression nut includes a forwardly facing concave cam surface for engaging and radially compressing the coil spring into strain relief engagement with the cable. An interference surface is operatively associated with the backshell and non-rotatably engageable with the strain relief coil spring to prevent rotation of the coil spring with the compression nut relative to the backshell.

    • A lighted adapter for use in an electrical system which includes a male connector and a mateable female connector connectable in a given line circuit. The connectors include complementary interengaging terminals. The adapter includes a housing having a female end for mating with the male connector and a male end for mating with the female connector. An electronic package is located within the housing and includes adapter terminals for engagement with the terminals of the connectors when the housing is mated between the connectors, whereby the electronic package is electrically coupled to the line circuit through the adapter. A light source is provided in the housing and coupled in the circuit therethrough. A light transmitting lens is associated with the housing and arranged in proximity to the light source to provide external viewing of a lighted condition of the light source and, thereby, a line circuit condition through the adapter.

    • An electrical connector comprising a housing part, a cap part, and a clamp screw. The housing part has a conductor receiving channel formed therein. The cap part is removably connected to the housing part. The clamp screw is threadably mounted to the cap part to clamp a first conduct or located in the conductor receiving channel of the housing part to the housing. The clamp screw has means for connecting a second conductor to an insulated portion of the first conductor. The connecting means comprise the clamp screw having a contact surface disposed to capture a terminal of the second conductor between the contact surface and the first conductor.

    • A removal tool is operable for separating components of an assembled electrical connector used for connecting electrical conductors together. The electrical connector includes a tapered connector sleeve having a general "C" cross section with a slot defining a stop ledge and a wedge having a latching ledge which engages the stop ledge when inserted into the slot preventing removal of the wedge. The removal tool with a first block member includes outwardly projecting ears for selective insertion into the slot for engagement with the stop ledge. A second block member includes outwardly projecting slide pins. The first block member is slidably received on the slide pins for movement toward and away from the second block member, a removal blade on the second block member having a tapered nose member projecting toward the first block member and an integral shoulder on the second block member facing the first block member and spaced from the removal blade in a direction away from the first block member. When the assembled electrical connector is positioned on the removal tool with the ears projecting into the slot of the connector sleeve and the tapered nose member is inserted between the wedge and the connector sleeve, movement of the first block member toward the second block member causes the latching ledge of the wedge to disengage from the stop ledge. With continued movement of the first block member toward the second block member the shoulder engages the wedge and forces its removal from the connector sleeve.
