    • A signal-seeking radio receiver is disclosed which has two different types of local oscillator circuits. One type of local oscillator includes two transistors, the emitter of the first connecting to the base of the second and having a capacitor connecting between the emitter of the second and the base of the first. A large number of diode switched crystals can be connected to the base of the first transistor of the local oscillator without introducing an instability in the oscillator circuit. The second type of local oscillator is of the same general design as the first type except that it additionally includes a third transistor connected to the second transistor in a fashion similar to the first transistor. In this second oscillator configuration, the circuitry used to step among the channels also is used to alternately make either the first or third transistor operative in the local oscillator circuit.

    • A load management system which includes a central message generator and a plurality of addressable remote load controllers which selectively connect and disconnect high power deferrable loads to and from a power source in response to transmitted messages. The load controllers include means for translating coded tone pair inputs into digital data. Tones selected from three such tone pairs are used in one scheme, where a tone selected from the first tone pair is used for the initial bit of a message, and subsequent tones are alternately selected from the remaining two tone pairs or the remaining bits. One of the tones of the first tone pair is utilized as a test tone which initiates a test routine sequence. The test tone can be transmitted by a portable, low power transmitter to test the functioning of the remote units. A message format includes two code sets, a zone code set and a command/address code set. Each load controller has a preprogrammed zone identifier and a preprogrammed address identifier, and is responsive to a command/address code message only when the last received zone code message has identified the preprogrammed zone identifier of that load controller and the command/address message indicates the preprogrammed address identifier of that load controller. All load controllers having a common zone identifier are responsive to a scram instruction message which identifies that zone.

    • Compact disk labeling systems for use in applying a compact disk label to a compact disk. One embodiment includes a compact disk case with a base and a rotatable lid that rotates about a hinge. A central spindle protrudes from a surface of the base that holds the compact disk by means of its central hole. A label hub protrudes from a surface of the lid. A flexible foam disk may be attached to an interior surface of the lid that is disposed around the label hub. Another embodiment includes a base having a generally flat upper surface. A central spindle protrudes slightly above the upper surface of the base that holds the compact disk by means of its central hole. A rotatable lid is attached to the base by means of a hinge and has a generally flat surface 23 with an inner tab section and an outer section that flex relative to each other. A cylindrically-shaped compact disk label hub protrudes from the inner tab section to hold the adhesive label.

    • A compact disk labeling system for use in applying an adhesive label to a surface of a compact disk. The system comprises a side wall with a shape that substantially matches the exterior shape of the compact disk and which registers the compact disk. A flat shelf is formed a predetermined distance below an upper edge of the side wall that forms an upper cavity. The shelf has a central opening with a plurality of slots extending outward therefrom toward the side wall. A hub is formed on the shelf that comprises a plurality of tabs that extend away from a top surface of the shelf. The hub is sized to allow a central hole in the adhesive label to register thereto. The central opening and slots in the shelf allow the hub to flex.

    • A display and storage tray for a stack of photographs, card-like objects or the like, includes a housing, a retaining member, a plurality of slots, at least one guiding member and a lifting member. The housing has an interior that forms a recess that is adapted to hold the stack of photographs. The retaining member is coupled to the housing to retain the stack of photographs within the recess of the housing. A first opening slot is formed between the guiding member and the retaining member, and is adapted to permit the removal of one of the photographs from the stack at a time. A guiding member is coupled to or formed as a part of the housing to guide a photograph back to the bottom of the stack of photographs when one photograph is to be placed back in the stack of photographs in the recess of the housing. A second opening slot is formed between the back of the housing and the a guiding member, and is adapted to permit insertion of one or more photographs to the bottom of the stack of photographs. A lifting member is coupled to the housing and is adapted to press against the bottom of the stack of photographs. The lifting member helps to maintain the stack of photographs within the recess of the housing. The back surface of the housing is configured to form a channel with an opening that leads from the interior to an exterior of the housing. This channel is used to hold the negatives that were used to produce the plurality of photographs contained within the housing. The tray includes a frame support tab and at least one tab slot for receiving the frame support tab. The frame support tab is inserted into the tab slot to support the tray in an orientation that permits the tray to be used as a photograph frame.
